After touring Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Peggy's Cove and Halifax, we headed to the Northumberland Shore for a week at this waterfront cottage. It is just under 2 hours from Halifax and about 2.5 hours to Cape Breton, where we are headed next.
Besides the main cottage, there is a "bunkie ", both of which have recently been nicely renovated. The cottage is fully equipped, but we wish we had brought a kayak to explore the area. We loved sitting out on the deck in the evening watching the seals come by when the tide was high. We needed a break and this was the perfect tranquil spot for R&R. Consequently, we did not explore all of the things to do in the area but did go to the Joggins Fossil Cliffs, Heather Beach and Tatamagouche (Microbrewery). We also picked up a medley of seafood at Chase's Lobster Pound (5 minutes away) to make our own seafood chowder. Yummm!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Becky and Will have really thought of everything!!! The kitchen is beautifully redone and our family enjoyed Netflix movies and the Wi-Fi in the evenings. Two different options for evening fire pits, one rate on the shore made for wonderful family memories. Super-friendly neighbours on a quiet lane. Can even watch a family of seals down by the boat launch (watching distance). Provincial Beach less then 3km away. Close and easy biking to through beautiful farm country and to quaint shops.Everything in the cottage is "new" right down to the blender and toaster. Exceptional views from the kitchen table which opens to the living room. For the moms, you might want to remember to bring bubble bath, a candle and your favour wine once the kids go to sleep.
