Description: A mere seven miles from the centre of Oxford, in the picturesque village of Fyfield, The White Hart is the ultimate country pub and restaurant. It is a stunning former chantry house dating back to the 15th century, boasting many original features. With soaring eaves in the Great Hall and Minstrel's Gallery, a roaring log fire in winter and pretty terrace bursting with flowers and aromatic herbs in summer, The White Hart is not only cosily beautiful but offers a warm, village welcome too. With a passion for provenance, the kitchen grows much of the restaurant's fruit and vegetables in a large kitchen garden and also sources food from the very best local suppliers. Even bread, pasta and ice cream is homemade fresh on site. Frequently changing, the menus rely purely on what is fresh and available, ensuring food which delivers on every level. No wonder they hold 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence!

Sunday lunch with children. Slightly frosty reception from (senior?) bar person but other staff were very charming.
Short but well balanced menu. Starters were very pretty. I felt the smoke on the smoked salmon dish a little too strong. Liver parfait good.
Roast rib eye of beef excellent quality extra gravy requested and given
Spiced monkfish good
Vegetables ok
Kids fish and chips returned under cooked and replaced. Handled well and complimentary desserts offered. Kids pasta good (huge!)
Rhubarb and custard dessert stand out dish of the meal - superb.
All in all a good lunch fairly priced for the ingredients and effort put in. Will return

A first rate dining experience, apart from the "dauphinois" potatoes that weren't. Nice ambience. Interesting history of chantry building. Superb desserts

This is a lovely pub. Great beers, delicious wine list. Our lunch was scrumptious. This restaurant lives up to its reputation and is well worth a visit.
