The beauty of Hidden Valley Inn & Reserve lies in the choices you have on the property. If you wish to spend all day hiking, there are multiple, well-maintained trails in every direction surrounding the Inn. If complete meditation or concentration is the goal, the grounds are quiet and remote. The pool area is perfect for an evening dip and the rustic lodge itself has reading rooms/ library to learn about Belize or simply lose yourself in a book. The professional staff, especially Marvin the lead tour operator, are knowledgeable and make excursions easy to plan.
The dining is good, service impeccable, and rooms are very good (clean and regularly refreshed). We stayed in the standard Estate rooms and found them to be a pretty good value.
If remoteness and rainforest of inland Belize are your interest, Hidden Valley is an excellent choice. It will be a completely different experience than traveling to the Cayes/beaches.
You only need to know that nightlife isn’t happening up here; this is literally a hideaway.
Bring proper bug repellents, of course. Definitely pre-plan your transportation to the Inn, which along with tours & excursions, are pricey just as in other places across the country.
Highly recommend: Hike to Butterfly Falls, and Day excursion to Caracol Mayan ruins.
WiFi signal is adequate.

We stayed with Hidden Valley from 8/11-8/14 and have nothing but good things to say about the property and the staff. Marvin drove us to/from the airport as well as to Guatemala for our outing to Tekal and was personable, informative, and welcoming. One of the best tour guides we have met on our many trips. Serving staff and bartenders (Danilo, Abraham, Maritza) made meals and our time at the property comfortable, and Misael made suggestions and modifications to our day excursions that ensured we would have a perfect experience. Have to give a special shout out to Danilo for printing up a hilarious certificate for "Prince" the huge toad that hopped by while we were eating that my girlfriend named.

Couldn't recommend this property and staff more.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon - we actually just left this morning and had to write a review straight away because we were so delighted with our stay at Hidden Valley Inn.

We received such a warm welcome from every member of staff; they went out of their way again and again to accommodate us and make sure our trip was special. They happily chatted with us about Belize culture and provided us with information about the different animals around the property. We even had an impromptu drive to two of the waterfalls on site by the owner! Nothing was too much trouble.

The cottage room was a great size and cleaned to a high standard each morning and turned down at night. The food in the restaurant was great (huge portions) and lots of choice in the bar. We enjoyed having drinks on the terrace by the pool in the evenings and even watched the sun set and the stars come out from the hot tub. It was so beautiful and romantic, and that's just the inn itself.

The reserve is huge, with so much to see and do it's almost overwhelming. We hiked, canoed and mountain biked around the different trails. The staff arranged the canoe and bikes for us on request and sorted out packed lunches for us. They also arranged a romantic champagne lunch by our own reserved waterfall for the day. The food was great and the view spectacular. It was a dream come true from start to finish. Thank you and we hope to see you again!

My husband and I traveled to Hidden Valley Inn last week for 3 nights on our 10th anniversary trip to Belize. Although the ride out from the Belize City airport was a long one, it was well worth it! The inn was absolute perfection: comfortably appointed rooms, delicious food, and incredibly attentive staff. I highly recommend including breakfast and dinner with your reservations. The food at the inn is great and the thought of traveling back out the road at the end of a long day of sightseeing or hiking would be exhausting.

My favorite part of our stay was our waterfall day. We reserved the Secret Pools waterfall for the day, and the inn packed us a picnic lunch, which they delivered to our waterfall. When we finished touring Butterfly Falls (a MUST-see!), we hiked to Secret Pools and found a white tablecloth picnic with champagne and the most delicious food awaiting us! What a treat! When we radio'ed to let the Inn know we were ready to be picked up, our guide made sure we got to stop at two waterfall overlooks to see King Vulture and 1000 Foot Falls. 4 waterfalls in one day, all on the Inn's property!

For our 3rd day, the Inn organized our trip to see the Mayan ruins at Tikal. They coordinated a driver to the Guatamalan border, a guide in Tikal, and pickup at the end of the day. It was so simple- they even packed us DELICIOUS breakfast burritos to eat on the drive because of our early start.

I can't say enough about how special the staff at the the Inn made us feel. All of the beautiful flowers artfully arranged in our room, a special anniversary cocktail, and so much more made this experience one to remember.

Thank you, Hidden Valley!

Room tip: Estate suites have private screened porches with hammocks and an outdoor shower.

We spent two nights here as part of two weeks in Belize. We truly wished we could have spent more time at Hidden Valley. We were a group of 4 (two adult sisters; two teenage kids) - they set us up in two separate rooms with a shared living room/lanai area - absolutely perfect for us. The staff absolutely couldn't have been nicer (particularly the restaurant/bar staff), food was beyond great, amazing rooms w/ outdoor shower, beautiful grounds with nice pool/hot tub. We used Hidden Valley as a base to take a trip to Caracol. Were able to go on one beautiful hike, but honestly just didn't have enough time here. We would have loved another few days to hike and just enjoy the peaceful property. As others have mentioned, it's a bit remote on a bumpy road to get here -- but that's exactly why it's so nice. Hidden Valley was one of the highlights of our trip -- Highly, highly recommend.
