Visiting Bandera for the first time and absolutely loving our visit! Rustic accommodations on Indian Creek offer the full country experience for city folk. My boys have never really been exposed to chickens and horses like this! Perfect weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Pros: Fresh Eggs, water activities, rustic accommodations, peace and quiet, delightful host, full kitchen, mature trees, fishing, friendly animals, privacy and did I mention Fresh Eggs?
Cons: If you don't like rustic you won't like it here.

A great escape from the city. Friendly animals (horses, chicken, a donkey, a cat, a dog), fresh eggs, good fishing, awesome food in town, very comfortable place. Only few hours from Houston. Highly recommended.

What a delight! A gorgeous setting, the only cabin there so we had the run of the place. Horses, chickens, donkey, dogs and a cat to visit. A pretty lake for fishing or swimming, water slide, paddle boat, kayaks, a bass boat, hiking and only 6 miles from Bandera. Be sure to take the drive to Tarpley and Vanderpool. So pretty. We wound up driving to Lost Maples park and had a very pleasant hike along the creek.

The cabin is probably original to the ranch. It has everything you need in the kitchen. Julie has thought of everything. We grilled a steak and made a big breakfast the next morning. Having cabins ourselves we appreciated all the extras. The fireplace would be very nice in cooler weather. The cabin has a separate bedroom and could easily sleep 4. Can't say enough about our relaxing time we spent there.

My husband & I had never been to the hill country of Texas before our visit in April. I just happened to come across their website and it sounded interesting, so we booked. It was all we were expecting and more! We are animal lovers, so the resident horses, donkey, chickens, dogs and cats were a welcome sight. We could go visit them any time we wanted to. There were wild turkeys and deer that came across the property on a regular basis. We even had an armadillo couple living near the house. They were very interesting to watch. The bird feeders brought in lots of hummingbirds, indigo buntings, painted buntings, and many other varieties of birds. We stayed in the 2bd/2ba house on the property, but Julie also offers a bed & breakfast cabin on the property for shorter stays. It's looks very comfortable & inviting, as well. The ranch is just far enough out of town to be peaceful, yet close enough (5 miles) to be convenient for shopping, etc. There are larger towns within close proximity, also. Cool Water Acres is a great place to stay when you want to explore the entire hill country area of Texas. Julie, the owner, was so welcoming and friendly. We feel we've made a new friend. Being in the hill country, there's plenty of green vegetation, cooler temps in the evenings which is great for sleeping. We were very comfortable there. Our time went way too fast! We will be going back. Any time of the year would be great at this peaceful retreat. It was a wonderful trip.

We went for our 27th anniversary and were looking for a hideaway. We hit gold. From the outside, the cabin is VERY rustic but that's what we love. On the inside, it had all of the amenities one could ask for. Fresh eggs in the frig for breakfast each morning along with fruit and other goodies. Since we were on vacation and able to fix our own breakfast, we were able to sleep in and not be in a hurry to the main house. We were greeted each morning with the chickens on the front porch and the horses behind us. We had four-legged greeters each time we came and went from the property. Julie and her cowboy were the perfect hosts. We will definitely be staying again. It was so hard to leave.
