Go for the peace of the rushing stream out your window. It is better than an ocean. But look at all the native plants, mosses, trees and bushes -- no matter the season. Stay for the great buffet breakfast and special dinners as they use locally sourced foods and beers and the chefs come talk to you. Old rock lodge or newer guest houses. It doesn't matter. All meet at the mill and play games. The North and South trails are both really wonderful hikes to the falls (one above, one below) and they will even pack you a sack lunch if you need one. What a fine place.

Room Tip: A very unique place with a long history. Get a creek room or house.

Hello from Evins Mill!

Thank you for your patronage, and thank you for taking time to share your experience of our property with others. I'm so gratified you appreciated the native flora, which we are working hard to protect and grow, and the locally sourced food & beverage, as we've also worked hard to cultivate relationships with local providers. Thank you again! William Cochran

I loved the food, but this is not for picky eaters. Although they do make accommodations if you ask. Staff was friendly and kind. Nice hiking trial. Be ready also for lots of stairs. If you are looking for some couple time, this is an excellent hideaway!

Room Tip: Top rooms are quieter

Absolutely beautiful remote fun place to visit. We did the trails and it had been raining for the past two weeks they were a little muddy but worth it! Great place for summer swims by waterfall. We loved our room in the Solstice. The game room was a ton of fun too. Super comfortable mattress! Jason created the most amazing meals for us and Judi was such a pleasure meeting. I loved this place and cannot wait to come back.

Once again we visited Evins Mills and thoroughly enjoyed every minute . It was a planned Valentine event and it seemed that they were sold out in the dining room both upstairs and down . From the encrusted tenderloin or citrus duck to the chocolate soufflé style dessert with Baileys cream everything was well prepared. We were able to choose our table and we were able to situate ourselves in front of one of the 3 fireplaces - very romantic.
We stayed in the Lockhart building closest to the main Lodge. Both times we have been there it has rained but without doubt we were able to enjoy the covered balcony, the rain and the rushing water. Very soothing .
The next morning we enjoyed a scrumptious French toast breakfast with all the southern breakfast trimmings. The crispy bacon is the best ! The grounds had dried enough to walk the trail to see the tops of the falls and over to see the grist mills and activity room. There is so much here to see and enjoy if you like to be outside. If not, there is an activity room with piano, cds, space to dance, ping pong table etc . There are books and movies to borrow as well . Check out is not until 12:00 so after that big breakfast walk the property and soak up the atmosphere .
If you are looking for something in the area to do after checking out the Rock Island State Park is close. With all the rain the night before we were thrilled to see the gorge and white water below the dam. If it is dry there are falls there as well . The time before we visited the Edgar Evins park and had a picnic with the box lunch provided at check out .
It’s a couples dream ... visit rain or shine.

My wife and I spent a long weekend here and enjoyed our stay. The staff was kind and generous; the property was picturesque; the food was generally good.

Our stay was somewhat tainted by thin walls. Our bottom-floor room resided below a rather...um...enthusiastic couple who made the most of their stay. Evins Mill is a romantic getaway, so more power to them, but we could hear them quite well through the ceiling.

A couple of the meals were misses for us, but one could chalk that up to personal preference. Generally, the food was very tasty and the service courteous.

We enjoyed hiking the premises, but keep in mind that the hike to the waterfall is quite rocky. Wear tennis shoes and don't pack a heavy load.

The hotel earned a fourth star by immediately addressing a concern we had. There's a storage area for the staff next to our balcony, and on a couple occasions, the staff stood outside and smoked around the corner while we were trying to enjoy our time outside. It put a damper on our relaxation time, but when we pointed it out to the hotel the manager offered us a credit, apologize profusely and promised to address it with the staff. These things happen. It was important that Evins Mill addressed the small annoyance and tried to make it right.

I think we will return. We had a relaxing getaway and appreciate the hard work that goes into serving guests.

Greetings from Evins Mill. Thank you for taking time to share your experience here, and of course for your patronage. While I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed aspects of your stay, I am sorry to hear about the "enthusiasm" you referenced.

Thank you in particular for mentioning the staffing issue, which I was particularly disappointed to hear about, and which I will personally address this week. While I don't have so much control over how other guests utilize their rooms, but I do have control over where staff members take a break, and they know better.

Thank you again for your review - and more than that your detailed comments.

William Cochran
