Ramada Pigeon Forge South
Ranked #41 of 92 Hotels in Pigeon Forge
Reviewed 21 February 2012

We stayed at the Ramada Pigeon Forge in February 2012. Our stay started out with the hotel staff trying to charge us $100 over what was originally quoted us. The staff member was friendly and did get the price straightened out very quickly when I brought it to his attention. We stayed in the two room family suite with 4 queen beds. I would categorize the room as extremely dated with doors, trim, walls, carpet, and chairs being severely worn, beat up, and scratched. Curtains, chairs, and carpet had many nasty looking stains. I would rate the cleanliness of the room as just average to below average. I would suggest at least an occasional use of a crevice tool in their vacuum to clean up the nasty looking edges and corners of the carpet. We tried using the gas fireplace but it immediately smelled like a mix between foul body odor and burning plastic. TVs all worked ok but are the old tube style. Internet service was good until the hotel filled up then it only worked sporadically. Beds and linens were ok except for the comforter which had a nasty looking stain. Showers were clean with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. When we had a toilet clog the hotel staff was very friendly and responded right away with a plunger. Breakfast was ok and just a no frills continental. Based on our experience I have to question the many very good to excellent reviews for this hotel. In the future I will pay more attention to the lower rated reviews when considering a hotel using trip advisor. I guess the bottom line is that I would not stay here again nor would any of the other 3 adults that shared the room. If you can't find anything else it might do in a pinch.

My Husband and I just love hotel. The rooms have always been clean, the beds are comfortable. Close to everything. The breakfast has always been excellent. The staff has always treated us very kind. Sure there are cheaper places to stay but we always chose the Ramada. We plan on staying there again this year. Looking forward to it!!!

As a health and safety professional that spends more time living in motels/hotels away from home on assignments have the opportunity to earn a lot of reward points, I have stayed in many 0 to 4 star hotel locations and only recently started to review locations. For our youngest son's 10th birthday, when asked what he wanted to do, was 'see snow'. As a family, skip the traditional Christmas at home in Sunny, beautiful white sandy beaches of Florida and travel to the Great Smoky Mountains for his birthday and Christmas. After plenty of researching, we selected the Ramada Inn. After contacting the hotel learned that we could use my reward points, booked the two bedrooms and family room suite with gas fireplace and Jacuzzi. On arrival, we met Randy working the front desk that evening, with a great big smile and set the tone for our experiences. Randy became the point of contact for the kids’ frequent trips to the lobby in the evenings for multiple trips for ‘fresh coffee’ for the parents’ enjoyment, maybe hot chocolate for the kids to go with an evening freshly made Krispy crème donut. Accompanying the coffee deliveries was another fun sightseeing tip for the next day’s adventure. 'Randy Rocks' coming from pre-teens I think is a complement. The hotel is due for remodeling and is the last one scheduled for the resorts properties. The room was very large, clean, tastefully decorated, and the queen size beds very comfortable, the kids appreciated the separate bedroom to avoid hearing the ‘Snoring’ from the old man. (Insert your own thoughts what my wife probably would say.) The room has signs of age visible; worn carpeting, scuff marks on the walls, vanities and sinks stained and chipped, furniture stained, older 25 inch model TVs in each room. In the middle of the night the wall A/C heater in the kids’ bedroom blower failed making quite a racket. Unplugged the unit, went back to bed. At breakfast reported the issue to the front desk. Within 10 minutes maintenance showed up to take a look as we headed out the door on another "Rockin-Randy adventure". On return there was a brand new wall unit. We failed to get the name of the maintenance guy, but saw him each day taking care of the heated pool to say hi and learn that it’s ready for you to take a swim, and the plans for remodeling. The kids’ use the Jacuzzi regularly in the room, because it was too far to run from the pool to the room wet and cold. The hotel has the typical breakfast bar, but the staff makes it special. After learning that their sister, ate earlier then big brothers and ate probably the last hardboiled egg, Miss Marianne the next day and the rest of the stay, kept a few hardboiled eggs in reserve for the boys. We can’t say enough to all the staff for making our ‘snowy trip’ a lot of fun, in spite of the unseasonal warm weather and not seeing any ‘SNOW’. The family had a great time for his birthday and Christmas. We look forward to another visit in the future.

Hotel is very clean. The breakfast is pretty ordinary for hotels, cereal, fruit, waffles, toast, etc. The only problem we had was the walls/doors seem to be a little thin as we could hear the people next door and the people in the hallways. But, we would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed the breakfast. Clean and nice area. I'm truly impressed with the staff and how hard they worked. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful too! The room was a bit dated repair wise, but I slept very well and it was a great location! Parking was a challenge due to the hotel being full, but not too difficult.
