One of the few places open over Good Friday was the light airy café at Rutherglen Estates in northern Victoria.
We stopped for a late lunch.
The wine and beers were well chilled.
The oysters tasted of the sea.
The prawn salad, the charceuterie plate, the bruschetta and the mushroom tart were all light, full of fresh flavour and delicious.
A lovely stop on the road.

Had the herb gnocchi with pumpkin asparagus and gorgonzola sauce. OMG I wished the plate didn't end. Absolutely delicious. Apparently the menu was only changed today. At $20 a main, very well priced.

We were met by the friendly staff (Robyn) who immediately found a big box of toys for our daughter to play with...

Robyn’s knowledge of the local wines and vineyards was second to none, she assisted in selecting a number of wines for tasting.

Definitely worth a stop.

Quick stop at Rutherglen Estate in the late afternoon with my sister on a weekend away. Very nice air conditioning on a 43C day. Staff member was friendly and suggested other wineries to visit. Interesting art display. I prefer smaller, more personal wineries so Rutherglen was not for me but this is in no way any criticism of the winery.

As part of the Lil Tipsy tours we stopped in to much relief air con on such a hot day. The young lady who served us was very pleasant and made the tasting experience that much better. Some very good wines we did not leave empty handed.
There was also some local art works on display. The tasting area is part of a larger premise containing restaurant and accommodation.
