The hike up the mountain was a bit challenging (not the fittest person) but once you get through and actually start to enjoy the walk. It is breath taking. Its a look, so you will go up the mountain to the lookout then across to the waterfall then down the mountain to a path that takes you back to the car
Took the trail from Marysville and met up with the Keppel Trail. First few kms straight up and hard going but worth it for the view. Great walk after the lookout around to the falls. Highly recommend this hike.
You can walk or drive to the lookout. The views are awesome. The walks can be short or long and the drive is on good quality gravel roads.
go anticlockwise - the fist 3.5 kms to the lookout is tough but worthwhile. Great views from the lookout, then another easier 5kms to the top of Stevenson's falls where you can have your picnic. Climb down and see the falls from the bottom. On the way back to Marysville you will see a great selection of birds. Scarlet Robin, Eastern Robin, Silver Eye and more - the occasional snake too. Stop off at the bar in the motel for a refreshing beer afterwards.
I didn't walk through the trail. There is a driving route to the lookout. Very stunning view, you must go if you are in the area
If you are extremely fit, you can get to the top via a walk. The alternative is to do what we did and drive. It is a dirt road but very well maintained - suitable for most vehicles. The view is amazing. I found it a little eerie looking around, especially the tops of the mountains where all you can see is "sticks". I called them "ghost trees". Thankfully a large percentage of the foliage has grown back. You realise how small the town really is and how devastating the bushfires were.
