We went here for a full on day in the snow in July 2018. It was a cold day where I live in Western Melbourne, but as we got up to Marysville the temperature plummeted, and the snow fall was bordering on 'blizzard' - certainly a good introduction to REAL snow weather for my niece and nephew!

It was very busy - filled with plenty of families and tourists, enjoying the snow based activities such as skiing, boarding, and tabogganing. We lined up, hired some snow gear, and got stuck in. My nephew loved the taboggan area so much I think he nearly froze, due to his commitment to go down "just one more time"!

The cafe was good - a little overpriced, and very crowded, but good for warming up. And the store had a good range of gloves for all sizes/ages. Note: you can't hire gloves, so bring your own, or buy from the range here.

There was also good information on the wildlife and flora in the area for the more geekier of us (read: me!).

All in all it was a very expensive day, but worth it for the safe introduction to snow for the kids. The trip home was extremely long though, because people weren't prepared to drive on snow and slid off the road, causing obstructions. I think it took us an hour to get from the resort itself to the road. So my suggestion would be to aim to leave well before closing.

We took a drive up to lake mountain while on holiday in Marysville. A great thing to do in summer as a number of the wildflowers are out and the smell from them is gorgeous

We did a day trip to the Lake Mountain Resort, the drive was through the Yarra valley and on the way we visited the chocolate factory before going up to the mountain. We rented our snow clothing at the retail shop up at the mountain, we had a great time as there was snow falling during our visit, had some snacks and hot beverages at the restaurant, spent about 4 hours here as we we were in a day tour package and had to proceed to the next stop to visit on the way back, it was the waterfalls and was a good place to check out too.
Overall, we as a family with a child had a great day throughout the day.

Visited Lake Mountain in early August, so not too cold. It’s a long drive from Docklands but manage to make it there in great time. Entry fee is around $50 something per car and well worth it.
Such a beautiful scenery and great for family visit and those with younger kids.
There’s only one place to buy food from with a decent selection of food. There is also a shop there that sells gloves, beanies and jackets in case you need extra warmth.
