The wonderful thing is that we love dogs AND koalas and they can live in the same area.
We ask fury friends to be under your control and we ask the male koala not to be so noisy when courting.
I am glad you had a good stay.
Come back.
Love Peter
Our stay at Adobe flats was just wonderful. One night was definitely not long enough and we will be going back! Margaret and Peter are so friendly and passionate about the local wildlife. Would highly recommend this comfortable, cosy and inviting accommodation. The views are spectacular!

Thank you for your generous response and I am very glad that our units are as good as we advertise.
The colourful birds (King Parrots, Rainbow Lorikeets, Crimson Rosellas, Galahs, adorable little red browed Finches ) say thank you to be loved by you and they enjoyed your admiration.
It would be nice to have you back, the world needs to appreciate and protect our fellow travellers.
Love Peter
Mallacoota is a very relaxing place to spend a week or 10 and do some fishing, bird watching, photography or just relaxing. Adobe is 100% the best place to stay. Peter and Margaret are wonderful hosts.
Dear Keith
Thank you for your report on your stay with us.
April was a good season in Mallacoota and your stay at the Farmhouse would have given you many opportunities to photograph the wild but trusting native birds around the place.
Some keen birds record over 20 species on their first morning, and I hope you enjoyed the location.
At the moment there are more koalas in the trees as I have seen in the past. We counted 4 of these relaxed but slightly noisy creatures crossing roads and sleeping a treat in the gum trees.
My favourites would be the magpies who are by nature so tame, friendly and pay back with their wonderful song. A speck of mince meat s or crumbs of cheese brings them to your hand. When the young are large enough to fly it is a delight to be able to welcome another generation to us to love.
I am glad the farmhouse was big enough for you. It must have been rather roomy as there are 3 bedrooms, litchen, living area etc. to roam in.
It will be great to have you back to show us your phtos.
Affectionately
Peter Kurz
My partner and I booked into unit 3 now separately owned; it had good reviews but why we are at a loss to know. The whole place is a dirty shambles. Bacon and eggs are on offer but we had to wash the plates and cutlery before we could start cooking. There is no where to sit inside, unless you want to sit on the futon bed (i.e effectively on the floor). The very small bathroom is shared and is in need of a good bleach/clean/rebuild.
The views are virtually non existent being masked by other buildings. The outside patio area is furnished by chairs held together by masking/gaffer tape. The only highlight is the owner’s (Nick) obvious delight in birds and wild life, we watched rosellas feeding from a huge container; we weren’t quite so please to hear about the raccoon that lives in the roof/wall space or the description of rats that visit the bird feeder.
We were so unhappy that despite having booked and paid for two nights we moved out and into a local hotel.
So beware - I have no idea what the other properties that are also described as Adobe Mudbrick Apartments are like - but avoid number 3!
Dear Bromsgrove Annie
THANK YOU for your report on Flat 3.
Approximately 3 years ago we sold 7 (Flat 1,2,3,4, 5, 6 and also the honeymoon cabin) out of our 12 flats to new owners. This was done to allow us (especially Margaret, my wife who is also very proud of our endeavour ) to keep up our proud standard of being very special. Such as-as unique in the good sense of the term, comfy, unexpectedly welcoming, environmentally run and clean together with our love of the abundant wildlife that we welcome.
The new owners have either used their purchase to continue holiday rentals or as the private occupation of their newly purchased property.
I AM VERY SORRY that you had such a bad experience.
Obviously we can not interfere with any new owners; however, we can assure you that our remaining 5 adobe 'hideaways' (The Penthouse, Katies, the Farmhouse, The VIP bungalow and Flat 7) would please you no end.
To compensate for your last stay, we definitely will welcome you without any bad feelings and continue with our dedication to offer you an unforgettably SPECIAL holiday.

Stayed at Adobe mudbrick flats still owned by Peter n Margaret Kurz. They have sold a number of the original flats Peter built so other owners run them usually through websites. We booked penthouse n discovered a lovely two storey quirky flat w amazing glass bottles embedded in mud walls which glowed w colours at sunrise. Arrived midnight, woke next morning to a glorious 180* view over our terrace of Mallacoota inlet complete w a cacophony of birds feeding on the balcony. Walking distance to karbeethong jetty. 5 mins to Mallacoota central. Kitchen well equipped but knives dull. Lots of beds. BYO linen ok. Great having breakfast, lunch n dinner on terrace. Didn't want to leave..... Peter was right about that!
Thank you for such a lovely compliment that has justified my love of Mallacoota, Adobe (Mudbrick) building and an overarching awareness of our wonderful wild but trusting animals. I must admit I enjoyed our guests and can't imagine living without this stimulating input from the wide, outside world.
My lovely Margaret has a weak streak of not allowing to be being embarrassed with ANY DIRT anywhere in the flats and the Penthouse.
Please come back soon, we also love this house and might move across.
Margaret and Peter
The honeymoon villa is a quirky, mud brick, one bedroom, self contained haven with a great vibe. We stayed for 2 nights and were so relaxed we didn't want to leave. It has fruit trees and native bushes that make it quite private but also has 180 degree water views. The host provided some breakfast items,a bottle of wine, chocolate, candles and even provided wild bird seed for us to feed the local birds.
