We stayed at the Kookaburra lodge for 1night on the way to the coast.
Looking back we should of stayed a few days. Our host were great and treated everyone like family. The rooms clean cosy and comfortable. We had lots kangaroos cockatoos magpies and kookaburra's. The Grampians all, around us. Great food at the local hotel.
The Kookaburra lodge is a gem that everyone should visit at least once.
Having said that we will visit again when we venture that way.
Thanks for a great stay

We enjoyed our four night stay at the Kookaburra Motor Lodge. Friendly helpful staff and walking distance across the road and one block to the main street. BBQ for outdoor cooking and kitchenette in room was handy. Lovely to wake up to see kangaroos and wildlife every morning and evening. Thanks we will return, cheers and thanks

Room Tip: view over to the mountains

Staying here was the best decision!
1. Amazing hosts which will provide you with all the information regarding the Grampians that you need. Thank you once again for all the help and tips!
2. Super clean rooms. For that price it is really amazing, yes, the rooms are not modern and brand new but everything is clean and tidy. I usually don't check the dust under the bed because I'm too scared, but I needed to move the bed to check for the socket and I was amazed. No dust, someone is really vacuuming there.
3. Everything provided. Plates, cutlery, microwave, toaster and free BBQ! Great for the calm evening dinner.
4. Wildlife at your doorstep. We loved the morning sounds of the cockatoos and looking at kookaburras. Kangoroos everywhere in Halls gap. Just don't put your music too loud and don't scream all the time (I hate to see tourists now travelling with speakers and loud music... enjoy the nature, if you want music go to the disco)
5. Close to everywhere. We went on a short walk around Halls Gap because the lodge is just 1min from the centre.
6. Super comfortable bed!

We stayed for the two nights and it was great!

We had a garden view room and was fine but the garden is near the street so next time I would choose mountain view (even for few dollars more).

Kookaburra Motor Lodge offers every facility you could wish for. My room was delightful and very comfortable. WiFi is good and included. It is quiet and peaceful. The owners are friendly and a special highlight was the opportunity given in the evening to watch the Kookaburras come and be fed. This really is not a place to miss if you want to stay in Halls Gap. Many thanks. Peter Keen

Room Tip: The rooms are on the ground floor and have lovely garden and mountain views

We stayed 2 nights at this one-storey lodge. When we arrived in the evening, we found wild kangaroos grazing on the front lawn, wild cockatoos and kookaburras making a din and a whole field of kangaroos out the back verandah! With an introduction like that, we knew we had chosen the right place to stay. After all, we were in the Grampians to enjoy nature, and here was nature welcoming us at our doorstep!

Like most motor lodges or motels, we could park conveniently right in front of our room. The owner was friendly and shared useful tips about hiking trails as well as the local wildlife. Inside, our mountain-view room had a single and a double bed, a spacious bathroom and the usual in-room amenities including wifi, mini-fridge and kettle. Nothing lavish or fancy, just clean, cozy, comfortable accommodation that one looks forward to returning after a long day hiking the trails.

Halls Gap is a small town. The village shops and park are just a short walk away from the lodge while most of the popular hiking trails are a short drive away. On clear nights, the parking area within the lodge is a great place for stargazing as is the backyard. Highly recommended for nature lovers.
