Barnsley House is a must to stay at if want a B&B with a relaxing experience, excellent service and if you like old-world charm. The house is a beautiful Victorian style home with history and is looked after by hosts that have attention to detail and who have a passion for what they do. Eileen and Steve were gracious hosts who catered to our needs, with not only a high level of service - with a smile - but who delighted in preparing a delicious breakfast, as well as providing charming conversation. Excellent service began upon arrival where we were greeted with cake, scones and tea. The amenities were excellent with slippers, gowns, hairdryers, toiletries, towels/face-washers, extra pillows, TV, air-condition, games, DVDs, books etc provided. The shower was great with plenty of hot water (always important) and a large shower head - which was lovely. The room and house was spotless and charming, and we had a gorgeous room with French doors leading out to a beautiful garden that was tranquil (the Edwardian room), and a delight to walk through and look at. My favourite was the conservatory, however, I also loved the guest lounge where you could play chess or backgammon and enjoy complimentary sherry or port. There is also a big TV in the lounge as well as the bedrooms. It is centrally located but away from the main street, which makes it a peaceful and quiet location. It is also an interesting location in that it is right near the gorge where miners used to search for gold. Top marks and we would return if visiting Beechworth again. Claudia and Sandor

Thank you for choosing to spend a few days at Barnsley House. It was a delight to meet you and Sandor and hear about your recent trip to Italy. Spending time in our beautiful region after the rush of the school holidays is a great decision and we're pleased that you had lots of relax time whilst exploring Beechworth and beyond. We look forward to seeing you again as soon as you feel the need for another break.:)

An outstanding stay! Such a beautiful, historical home turned into an atmospheric B&B that comes with an immaculate garden landscape. A peaceful place for rest and unwind, Steve and Eileen make the perfect hosts with their very relaxed, easy-going nature. Most importantly, Eileen's talented cooking style of breakfast dishes makes for a 'home away from home' like experience with Steve focussing on his barista skills for making a perfect tasting coffee. We so look forward to returning soon because we know we will be well taken care of! L and R xx

Room tip: Rooms on the western side are quieter if you don't want to hear the frogs croaking at night.

We are thrilled when our guests can stay for a while and soak in the tranquil ambience that we have created at Barnsley House. Over five years ago we fell in love with Beechworth and Barnsley House and it gives us great pleasure to share our home with guests who "feel the love" also. It gives us, and them, a lovely experience. Come back anytime. Thank you for your lovely review.Steve & Eileen :) :)

Stayed here one night on a stopover to Sydney. Beautiful house and gardens. Room was perfect and had everything we needed (including a fridge which was great in the heat of Australia). Ten out of ten for cleanliness. Steve and Eileen were wonderfully, friendly hosts and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Breakfast was great too and (as a fussy eater), I appreciate getting exactly what I asked for. Highly recommend.

Lovely B&B within walking distance to the town. The owners where particularly helpful with suggestions of interest in the area. Breakfast was of a high standard and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was lovely and the gardens spectacular. It had all we could want and would definitely stay again. Thank you .

Many thanks to Steve & Eileen for the great hospitality - we did so enjoy our five nights with you in your beautiful house.

An amazing home with quite a history - we were very spoilt with Eileen's fantastic breakfasts and Steve's coffee - loved relaxing in the garden room - stunning gardens front and back - the ideal place to 'recharge the batteries'.

Looking forward to revisiting some time in the future.

After a challenging year for you it was lovely that you and Roy had the opportunity to truly relax and enjoy our beautiful town and surrounding region at a leisurely pace. As you know, we absolutely love our graceful historic home. And as we say in our guest directory "allow Barnsley House to work her magic and you will leave us relaxed, refreshed and revived". So pleased you did. Many thanks. Come back soon.
