This hotel was located close to our accommodation last week luckily because we got caught in massive thunderstorm while we were there then thinking no food tonight with no electricity out came candles and staff kept taking orders. And food of fish chips with salad was very adequate and hot.We delayed our departure due to the weather so spent sometime looking at history photos on the walls.

We stopped in for lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We sat in the beer garden which had the perfect amount of shade and sun. I had a chicken burger and my husband had beer battered fish and chips. The food came out fairly quickly and with extra chips free of charge. My burger was amazing! I could tell the pattie was home made and it was so fresh and melted in my mouth. My husband said his fish was so light and fluffy. Cold craft beer on tap just topped it off. The beer garden has a kids play corner so I wouldn't hesitate to come back with my kids. The staff were so friendly, good country hospitality. Highly recommended coming here for a meal.

A very busy town over the Xmas period, with most restaurants requiring to be booked. Fortunately, although not booked, we did get a table and enjoyed a beautiful meal. Thanks for accommodating us during this very busy period.

We were unable to enjoy a meal here but did enjoy some drinks in the comfortable lounge area behind the main bar. Walking in, the country pub atmosphere was evident and we enjoyed some cheery conversations with the locals. Once in the lounge, there was a quietness not found at the front. The historical ambience here was easy to feel, especially if you take the time to peruse the many photos and décor. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a drink or a meal as there wasn't any modern music to destroy the atmosphere.

Room tip: Enjoy a drink in the lounge!

We were wanting somewhere not too expensive but with great food, the chicken parma was the nicest we've had in a while. Limited kids menu though, mostly fried offerings, Lovely old pub but a little tired.
