This is our second visit to Sparrows. Love it. They know how to make coffee, even ask you what temp you would like...great for those that like their coffee hot. The muffins are out of this world, with different flavours. We had chilli chocolate and beetroot, amazing. Try the pides, really light and full of flavour. Oops, the services fantastic, always with a smile and always glad to see you. Next time your passing, stop for an awesome coffee and muffin, or pide. Right nest to the bric-a-brac shed. Can't miss it.

Great funky little coffee shop in Beaufort. Really top quality (i.e. good inner-Melbourne cafe standard) coffee - a very pleasant surprise in such a small country town. Plum & cinnamon muffin was amazing. I mean it - amazing. Chap behind the counter (owner?) was lovely. Will definitely stop there again on next trip to Ararat.

As other reviewers have said, this funky coffee bar on the western highway is easy to miss, but good to stop for light lunch or snack and a coffee. It also has a toilet block out the back, which cuts back on the stopover time if you are travelling through. The highlight is the hospitality of the hosts. Sparrows is cash only.

I've been stopping for coffee and cake in Beaufort (Victoria) for many years and read about Sparrows in the travel section of the daily newspaper. I was surprised to find it on the highway in an old converted motor garage next to the legendary bric-a-brac shed. It's a very unusual building conversion and the owners have created a unique and funky space. I was surprised at the appearance of the regular cafe latte when it was served, but tasted just fine - in fact, it was really quite good. The real treat was the savoury muffin - it was exceptionally nice. Fresh, tasty and moist. I now have a new place to stop on the next journey along the Western Highway.

Barely noticed this place, which is on the Western Highway on the eastern side of Beaufort, right next to the old garage. If you blinked you would miss it, but believe me, it is well worth stopping here for a great well-made coffee and a snack.
Can highly recommend the Chocolate Guinness cupcakes, absolutely the best cupcake I've ever had. Very reasonably priced ($6.50 for large cupcake and cafe latte) and a must-visit if you're passing through town.
