Came here with our 5 month old pup as you can bring dogs here Monday to Friday unleashed (although we had our girl leashed as she is young). Unfriendly dog owners with unfriendly dogs. Litter everywhere, water filthy and bratty kids who took delight in chasing after our dog with handfuls of sand . We came here so our dog can "socialise" as the N Beaches sadly has no decent dog parks worth mentioning. We will stick to our local area in the future. Not worth coming - parking fees are horrendous.

It is an enjoyable area. Water near the shark net side had wrappers etc left by the visitors in the water ( not nice people). The other end near the playground was quiet nice and very clean. Our day was ruined by so many muslim smokers camping everywhere and even when asked nicely to smoke in a corner or away from children they refused and argued that they will smoke and not move an inch. we were rudley told to go back home coz they gonna smoke even more now coz we mentioned it. we had to move 3 times but were still getting second hand smoke from left right and centre. Even though lovely place I will not go back there simply because of rude smokers smoking shisham and cigerattes non-stop.

Clifton Gardens has been a famous Sydney picnic spot for more than 150 years. Today it is a delightful expanse of grass, with great views across the harbour to the eastern suburbs, a sandy and sheltered harbour beach and netted pool (from which fishing is permitted), picnic tables, toilet facilities, a terrific playground for kids and plenty of space for them to run and play.

The park is surrounded by native bushland, with tracks to Taronga Zoo via Bradleys Head and to Balmoral via Headland Park. Adjacent is a small cafe and within walking distance are a number of other cafes, restaurants and function centres in Headland Park.

Clifton Gardens has been a favoured summer picnic spot for Sydney families for generations, and for very good reasons: a beautiful, safe stretch of sandy beach with netted harbour pool, plenty of grassy areas and play equipment for the kids as well as boulders to scramble over and gullies and the rocky shoreline for older ones to explore. Throw in barbecues and picnic tables and shelters, as well as a reasonable amount of parking (as long as you don't arrive too late). Note that this is Mosman and parking is expensive: if you are coming with a group might be a good time to look at car pooling options.
In recent years improvements to the precinct have come as the one-time military facilities at the northern end of the gardens have been decommissioned and handed back to the public - first being renovated with little expense spared. The area now includes a coffee kiosk, a cafe or two and a very swish-looking restaurant with superb views of the bay below and more broadly Sydney Harbour. Saving up to go to that one.

Great place to walk and take in the harbour view. Play equipment available for families. Clean toilets but the water for the hand washing wasn't working.
