I read a few slightly negative reviews of the hotel, so I wasn't expecting a great deal when I arrived...

My sister and I stayed at the hotel due to a close family member being in the nearby hospital for a serious illness.

I cannot speak highly enough of the friendliness of the staff - particularly reception and the restaurant.

The hotel itself has some age on it and subsequently the room facilities are not modern or top of the range, but the room is clean and neat. The beds are comfortable the linen is crisp and new.

The bathroom was small, but there was an array of shampoo, conditioner and gels to keep any weary traveller happy.

There was cable TV and the standard tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel was a mere 2 km from the hospital which was very handy for us and only a couple of km's to the delightful Lane Cove shopping village precinct - again for the weary, stressed traveller was fantastic - no giant malls to navigate.

We used the restaurant one evening after coming home late from the hospital. We only had 10 mins before it closed, but the lovely chap had no problem with us coming in as ordering a meal.

The meal was delicious - Italian cuisine and very reasonably priced.

Overall - it was a pleasant stay under the circumstances. Certainly the 'homey' feel of the place assisted us in de-stressing and I would recommend without hesitation to anyone in a similar situation. The price was very reasonable (given this area of Sydney) and as stated before the staff were wonderful.

Very difficult to get to and return to the Pacific Highway. As seems common in Australia the restaurant was closed for two days without warning in the brochure or when we booked , and no apology. We had to walk a mile to one in town. Room tired, carrying a faint smell of spraying cats. But when the restaurant opened on the third day the waiter-cum-maitre-d'hote was so colourful you had to cheer up, and food pretty good.

Firstly, the floor was dirty. Every day, I would take my shoes and socks off (nice clean feet). After walking around the unit for 10 minutes or so the soles of my feet were black and filthy. I didn't like taking my shoes off in the unit.. I really can't believe the cleaners didn't do a reasonable job of vacuuming the floor.

Secondly, the wireless internet was not only terrible in performance (with Google mail and maps inaccessible for half the week) but was shockingly expensive. A voucher of maximum 6 hours could be purchased for AU$24. I consider this a rort and mentioned this several times to the front desk. It appeared the wireless router serving the property had no better performance than a sick dial-up connection.

On the two points above I would simply not return to this property. The crazy thing is that I recently stayed in a Comfort Inn (same chain) in Victoria and wrote a much more positive review.

To balance my report, here are other points. The bed was made every day. The TV had fox and was adequate. The bathroom and shower was kept clean. The shower was a nice pressure. The downside to the bathroom was the row of windows at the top from which someone leering over the wall of the petrol station above could see whatever they wanted. Also no solid soap is provided, just liquid soap dispensers - I prefer solid soap myself.

The location is pretty good although it's a bit of a mission to find the first time.

The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, within the limitations of the facilities the motel provides.
