Owner description: One of the most magnificent of Britain's castles is the "birth place of the Tudor Dynasty." You can climb the 80ft Great Keep, descend into a pre-historic cave and look down into a prisoner in a medieval dungeon. There is also a cafe and gift shop. During school holidays there are falconry displays, historic re-enactments and family entertainment. The main exhibition rooms display models and weaponry as well as telling the story of the history of the castle. You can also visit the room that King Henry VII the founder of the Tudor Dynasty was born.
Useful Information: Activities for older children

A damp, blowy day we wondered whether a castle visit was wise - turns out we had a fabulous afternoon. So very impressed that dogs are welcome, though would urge to find dog suitable protection from the rain as they aren’t allowed in the cafe. Our one disappointment was the cafe - overpriced for low quality with a host of unhappy staff at the helm.
Kids loved the interactive shows put on during the holidays, really made the visit worth it. And that map....wow impressive!

We came away with the whole family and the entrance fee of only £6 each was a welcome change.
The castle isn’t massive but for young kids it is good. Would recommend to do this once.
Parking was next to the castle and was nice to walk around the castle to the entrance.
Coffee was the usual high price but this isn’t unexpected.

Had a lovely day at Pembroke Castle. Took advantage of the free guided tour - guide was knowledgeable and great to listen to, full of interesting stories about the castles history, occupants and architecture. Despite the rainy weather it was a brilliant day out and I would and will definitely revisit!

We enjoyed our visit, and there was a world war 2 re-enactment which the kids loved. It would have been nice to have a bit more info on the castle, such as audio tour. But all in a nice visit.

Gareth the retired history teacher really brought the castle to life for me and my family. He was outstanding and kept us entertained throughout as well as informing us of the history of this special castle, oue moody teenager didntbwany to do the tour but was delighted with Gareth and made a dreary afternoon thatblittke bit more enjoyable, he is a credit to tge castle and teachers alike keep it up we will be back!
