Came here on Easter Sunday with a group of 7 friends. Greeted by friendly staff and seated in a nice long table near the kitchen. We all chose the Sunday lunch in different variations; turkey, beef and lamb and they were all excellent as were the starters. The prices are very reasonable and the staff accommodated two fussy eaters perfectly. Unfortunately we don’t live in Ruthin but if we did this would be one to return to.

This was our first visit to this truly wonderful pub and restautrant. On arrival at the bar, the landlord was immediatey friendly, offering a good selection of real ale and local cider. The bar area is cozy and traditional. I would have happily taken our meals in the bar area. We moved into the restaurant which was warmly lit with a comfortable soothing decor - tastful and relaxing especially after a long week working for the NHS.
All the staff were helpful, professional and polite without the usual need for the intrusivness one so often has to tolerate in other restaurants.
The menu with a good selection of specials was extensive - usual pub restaurant dishes with the specials really reflecting a 'special' type of dish.
I opened with a mackeral tart which was delicious followed by the stuffed chicken breast special. My main course was superb. Rich, tasty and quite original with a rissotto deep fried pattie. The accompanying veg were well cooked and the whole dish was scrumptious. My wife opened with a tasty fig starter followed by the duck special. All our dishes were beautifully presented. All our plates were squeaky clean when we finished. We shared a very tasty cheescake for dessert -kind of deconstructed into a large glass. Really very tasty.
The whole experience was finished for me with a malt whisky (from an extensive whisky list) and an espressso.
It was remarkable that the restaurant wasn't packed with diners. I feel this restaurant is by far the best in the area by a long way. We will definitely be returning and I would strongly recommend it. Above all , we felt so relaxed in a quiet, romantic and warm environment

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Veg was really nice with good quality meat. Kids food was also obviously homeade and portions were generous. Quite reasonable as well- only cost £42 for family of 4 including drinks. Very happy and we will definitely go again.
