Perfect for Nature and a healthy walk to to the town centre. Plenty of on site parking and a very comfortable stay.

The cottage was just as we expected from the photographs and earlier comments, and we particularly enjoyed the views across the beautiful Victorian hotel, and its gardens and tennis courts, to the distant mountains. We had everything we needed, the cottage was warm and the kitchen in particular was well-equipped and up to date. Joy was a welcoming and helpful presence next door, and as well as a lot of attention to detail in such things as books, games, wifi and so on, was particularly keen to ensure that her delightful dog and charming cats didn't intrude more than was welcome (though we loved having them around). We thought the whole experience extremely good value and would happily go back. Though it's a bit out of Beaumaris town, it is nearer than the map leads you to expect, and a car is essential.

“Ideal base for dog owners.”

The Cottage is an old estate cottage fitted with basic modern utilities. It is ideal for owners of wet smelly dogs who who have no objection to their animals sleeping on the furniture which, judging by the all pervading smell of the settee, is the way the previous occupants had conducted themselves. A good base for exploring North Wales and the island.

“Just what we needed!”

My wife and I stayed at the cottage for a week between 23 and 30 May. It's been a very long time since we stayed anywhere in the UK for more than a day or two as we normally go abroad a couple of times a year so we had forgotten what to expect! The reason for the change is that we now have a little dog (and accordingly our priorities have changed) and it was while looking for a break where she would be welcome that we came across Hartleapwell.

We were not disappointed.

The cottage is a haven of peace and quiet set amid glorious woodland and a very pleasant hotel. The cottage contains everything you need for a self catering break including pleasing gardens and an area at the rear for sitting out under cover. Joy herself is a very helpful hostess and the pet hotel she manages which is mentioned in previous reviews is in no way intrusive.

I first visited Beaumaris in 1960 as a 13 year old on a school history field trip based in Capel Curig, visiting all the castles from Harlech in the south to Beaumaris in the north and all those between. I liked it then and I still like it now and have stayed there in the past in B&B accomodation. In future I will always check to see if Hartleapwell is available!

I would highly recommend this cottage to anybody considering a break in Anglesey, whether or not you have a pet to consider. In our case we did have a little dog to consider and she absolutely loved it....especially the almost complete absence of a lead...something which is not really possible where we live.

Thoroughly enjoyable and we hope to return soon.

Dave and Eileen Roberts.
