Portmeirion village is clearly a totally unique "one-off" place. It is a bonus that the "hotel" provides such a high quality of food and wine. For breakfast you need to ask for "strong" or "very strong" coffee as otherwise it will be too weak for most tastes. It is also a good idea to asl for it to "be held" until you have had time to enjoy the fruit/cereal buffet so that it is not cold by the time you are ready for it. Ditto for the toast also.
Dinner was quite superb and it is easy to see why their "crispy duck egg with smoked duck soldiers" is their signature dish and so popular - it is wonderful. The duck main was also quite splendid. For dessert the lemon posset was delicious. Make a point of eating here - even if only for lunch as part of a day trip.

This Hotel is at the very bottom of the village overlooking the bay, great staff, comfortable seating areas, interesting decor and of course a good meal to be had.
Make a point of trying while here...you will enjoy and it will not break the bank.
Try the Welsh ale if your a beer drinker,at around £5 per pint it is a little high but when sitting in drowse making comfort it seems worth while...so we did and enjoyed.

What am amazing place! Wanted to visit for so long and it didn't disappoint. Stayed in the hotel for one night and it was amazing! Room and bathroom were really pretty and clean. Views over estuary stunning and staff so accommodating. Magical village, with loads to see and had facial at the Spa which was so relaxing. Would love to go back and stay in one of the cottages sometime.

Awesome weekend with my lovely husband.
Stayed in the Watchtower suite which I would highly recommend, amazing views, private
patio with heaters perfect way to start and end the day.
Attention from all staff in the hotel was excellent and we enjoyed breakfast and dinner .
This was a very relaxing weekend with plenty of walking in wonderful location with very
good services.
We would definitely use this a a base for any further trips to North Wales.

Room Tip: I would recommend a village suite for more privacy.

My daughter is getting married and we booked a hen afternoon tea at the Hotel as she is not in to manic stuff, we thought it would work well as she is getting married in Positano and the village is, of course, italianate. So we went over this afternoon to try out the afternoon tea and look at whether we might all stay overnight at the hotel. We rang and booked a table. The staff at the top gate were not welcoming when our daughter expressed her excitement over her wedding, stating that we should have made an appointment (for afternoon tea??) with a wedding planner! We walked down to the hotel who couldn't find the booking, we sat down and were almost immediately given a bill for a brace of scones - why? We went back to check and found a table with a reservation on and on enquiring found it was actually for us. We had the afternoon tea which was very nice except for some very doughy scones. We were, however, discomposed and went to ask at the front desk how our party of ten would be sat and where when we returned, they were so totally uninterested and unable to even suggest where we would be put that we gave up, cancelled the afternoon tea for April and din't even ask about the overnight. Either the hotel has so much money that the staff are keen to turn people away or they need to really consider who they are there for. a huge disappointment.
