“Secluded rustic getaway with everything we needed for a family get together.”
Reviewed 12 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The bunk rooms are compact but having a basin in the bedrooms helped with only one bathroom available. The open plan traditional space downstairs was ample for our needs, lots of parking and beautiful walks around. The owner was very accommodating to our late arrival.

“Good value for money”
Reviewed 5 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed at Cefn Coed for 2 nights at the end of Aug 2016. There was 12 of us and we sued this place as our base to climb Snowdon. 12 beds are packed into 2 small rooms with only one toilet and shower; not ideal for 12 people!

However there were 2 separate toilets outside which we discovered the next day, very handy.

The kitchn/dinner and lounge is spacious and well equip. The log fire indoors is prefect and the owners kindly left logs for us to use.

Overall it's good value for money if you are planning as stop-over base for other things.

“Peace and quiet....”
Reviewed 13 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Bunkhouse location was ideal for us, off the beaten track, surrounded by trees and very quiet. The ideal antedote to a hectic life. The barn itself has a simplicity typical of bunk barn arrangements. The essentials are all there, notably a very large range cooker (plenty of large pots and pans etc), a wood burner and central heating for the colder months. It would also be an ideal base for winter walking as the heating was certainly efficient. Beds and bedding were all very comfortable and clean, and the shower room was modern. The only slight drawback (due to the compact nature of the barn) was a queue for WC as its in the same room as the shower.

The immediate surroundings were very wooded and this added to the feelings of tranquility, there are some buildings within the boundary that are to be refurbished, (some previous reviewers criticised this) but it doesnt detract from what is a lovely setting. The owner, who is very easy to deal with, is setting about bringing these buildings back in to use.

Wider afield, there is good beer to be found at the cellar bar of the hotel in Penmaenpool, from the local Purple Moose brewery. Walking, something for most people, a flat walk along the disused railway line, or more strenuous stuff up Cadhir Idris nearby. Brilliant Mountain biking also available close by. Shame we were only here for 2 nights.....
