It was such a pleasure to visit Caerwylan after 15 or so years. Our last holiday there was in the summer and it was blissfully hot and sunny; this time it was very mild for November and the sun shone, so we were once more enjoying the wonderful sea views and a few short strolls when time allowed. There had been new owners in the last 12 or so years, who had carried out major re-structuring of the inside, and did an excellent facelift, all very impressive. We were made extremely welcome by the charming (new, again) owners Frances and Michael. It was nice to see the old lift had been retained, and it worked most of the time - and John the receptionist was able to fix it fairly quickly! The central heating was adequate but could have been on for a few more hours perhaps - but we didn't have very cold weather to contend with. Breakfast was fabulous, service was excellent, and we enjoyed one dinner in the Tonnau Restaurant. Cuisine of a very high standard, clearly a 'proper' chef at work - I enjoyed a very skilfully prepared and presented fish dish. Due to our social engagements and family commitments in the area, we were sorry not to enjoy the restaurant on another night of our stay.

Thank you so much for your great review, we have been very lucky with the amazing weather that we have had so late in the year.
We have taken feedback regarding the heating times, and have increased these, especially now that it is getting a little cooler.
It was a pleasure having you both stay with us, and hopefully you won't wait another 15 years before your next visit.

Travel safe

Thank you very much for your review. We like to think of our lift as "romantic" but you are right, it is quite small! We apologies for your room being cold, there is nothing worse than being cold and trying to sleep, when you next stay with us, please get in touch and we will ensure that the heating is working in your room and that there is a portable heater given to you as a back up.

Travel safe.

Our stay at the Caerwylan was just perfect. The position was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful sea views which can only be described as panoramic! The owners were friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was a delightful room on the front of the hotel with the fabulous view of the bay and also the castle. It was light and airy but had the facility of black out blinds behind the curtains. There was a desk where my husband liked to work whilst I gazed at the spectacular views and we also had a great bathroom with a large walk in shower...just perfect. The bed was an extra king size with the facility to be split into twin beds and was extremely comfortable. We had a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: The front rooms in the hotel and some side ones have fantastic bay and castle views

As a regular guest I was unsure what would happen when the hotel was sold, thinking it could not be any better. Yet somehow Frances & Michael have made it so. Their experience & personalities are well suited to the hotel industry & nothing was too much trouble. A well run establishment makes for a very relaxing stay, thank you. Looking forward to my next visit.

Have just returned from my fifth visit to the Caerwylan but my first since Michael and Francis have taken over.
To all those like myself who enjoy photography, this is THE hotel to stay at for visiting Snowdonia and surrounding areas, believe me the choice of locations is endless and you will get some great images.
Michael, Francis and all their staff go to great lengths to ensure you are well looked after and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast will keep you going all day and the most difficult thing about dinner is what to have! I had lamb on two nights and I can honestly say it was just perfect - the best I have ever eaten.
Thank you everyone at Caerwylan, in my opinion the hotel and staff are all five star !!
See you next year.
Alan
