This is a delightful hotel. When we arrived the receptionist knew who we were straight away & had all our details to hand. He then showed us to our room - other hotels take note! Our room was on the top floor with lovely views over the bay & the castle. The room was a good size as was the fully equipped bathroom.
We paid an extra £1.75 a night for use of a garage which was well worth it - the garage was only 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
All the staff were friendly & helped make our stay a very enjoyable one. Definitely the friendliest hotel we've stayed in & it makes so much difference - we'll definitely be back.
Breakfast was great with a wide choice inc cereal, fruit, toast & cooked. Service was excellent & the hot food piping hot (again, other hotels take note!).
Criccieth itself is delightful with good restaurants, lovely views, a great circular walk (albeit a bit long!) & well positioned to explore Snowdonia, Anglesey etc.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a view

Apart from parking, which I suspect is a problem wherever you stay in Criccieth, this was a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are spacious with modern, clean facilities and the breakfast was first rate. Couldn't fault it really.

We stayed here 7 nights and played five rounds of golf on 5 different courses in North Wales.

My wife and I had executive double room #16 with sea view on the first floor. The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean, quiet and well equipped with an excellent bathroom, a lot of wardrobe and drawer space and free & fast wifi. We had stunning 180 degree panoramic views to three directions, to Criccieth main beach on the left, over Tremadog Bay straight and to the ruins of Criccieth Castle on the right. The view was certainly worth the extra money. Our friends had the neighboring room #18 and also they enjoyed the accommodation very much.

The room was exactly what a golfer needs. It was raining during one of the golf rounds and we needed a lot of space to dry our clothes, shoes and other golf equipment. There was even a drying room outside our room in the same floor. We found a free space for our car every day after the golf round very close to the hotel entrance.

The breakfast was great with some foodstuff from the buffet and with several choices of cooked breakfast to order without extra charge. We also chose to have dinner twice in the hotel restaurant (called Tonnau). It was excellent. However, if you don’t want to dine every night in the same place Criccieth has quite a few of other good food restaurants, too. Please, read my reviews of the restaurants we visited elsewhere in TripAdvisor.

The bar/lounge area is very comfortable. Our hard work on the golf course was rewarded after each round with lovely views and good prosecco or beer in the bar.

The service was perfect. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful and fulfilled all our wishes.

Both Caerwylan Hotel, the beautiful village of Criccieth and North Wales as a golf destination are highly recommended.

Room Tip: Pay some extra and book a room with sea view. You may regret if you don't.

We had a lovely 2 nights at this hotel. Parking outside is limited however if you can get a space close to the wall outside the hotel you are fine. Otherwise park down on the lower road. Room was very spacious, well appointed with a lovely comfortable bed and stunning views through the bay window along the beach and towards the castle.

We had dinner which was good, (after we could not get in The Castle Inn - see separate review). Breakfast was also great. Fruit, yoghurt, toast, cereals, and cooked breakfast to order.

Criccieth is a good base for sightseeing in Snowdonia.

We had cancelled an Italian holiday due just about now owing to ill health so we needed a "cheer us up". We are familiar with North Wales so had no hang ups about visiting. So to the Caerwylan in Criccieth! Don't take your teenage "Kevin" there! He'll be jumping of the roof with boredom. But if you want peace and quiet and quality and staff who leave you alone unless you need them and wonderful views and superb walks and lovely food at the hotel and cormorants and oystercatchers performing mid-air miracles then this is for you. It's not exactly cheap. Our room with a magnificent sea view through a huge bay window was £150 a night but worth every centime. A comfortable, contemporary dining room and dinner at about £30 each per night plus a few drinks to finish the night off meant that we had a bill of about £750 for three nights. Not inexpensive but we didn't mind paying. Good value. Down side? Elderly people are predominantly the hotels' forte. But they do their thing and we did ours. Peace and quiet and quality! That's the watchword at Caerwylan. Americans were guests there. And in the words of a famous American film star. "We'll be back"!

Room Tip: Only two floors but there is a lift especially for mauling your luggage in and out.
