“Comfort and Location - 5*”

You always wonder, "Will it be as nice as it is in the pictures? Will it live up to expectations?" You needn't worry at Bwthyn Mel. It is everything and more!

My husband and I booked Bwthyn Mel for a long weekend with my brother and his wife. Upon initial contact via TripAdvisor, the owners responded within hours. They were open and up front about everything, and the booking was made quickly with no fuss. Easy.

We worried about finding the place. The directions provided by the owners were accurate and easy to follow. We worried about making entry. No problems, straight forward and easy. We worried about how to use the cable, wifi, kitchen equipment, etc. Needn't have, all explained in the literature sent prior to our arrival and also laid out in a book at the house. Easy.

The lounge was large, furnished with two leather sofas and scatter cushions galore. It was cozy and comfortable and perfect in the evenings for relaxing after long days out exploring the area.

The bedrooms were lovely. Lovely furnishings and really comfortable beds. The bathroom ... wow! We all commented on its size and joked that we could all use one part of it at the same time! (Note - we didn't.). Bed linen and bath towels provided.

We only cooked toast in the kitchen (yes, we girls had a holiday, too!), but had we felt inspired to whip up a culinary delight we would have had no problems in doing it. Everything needed was there. Bonus - washing up liquid was provided along with kitchen roll, tea towels, and even a pint of milk to get you started along with a loaf of bara brith Nice touch!

The area around the house is quiet and rural (we heard sheep at night) although the High Street is just down the road. Criccieth is a pretty little town. Wish we'd had more time to explore it but did manage dinner one night at Dylan's on the waterfront. Worth a visit if only for the view! The food was fine, the place lively and loud. Fine dining? Probably not but still fun. Did I mention the view? The High Street has everything you need, including a couple of convenience stores for milk and bread, etc.

Would we return to Bwthyn Mel? In a heartbeat! This is probably the best holiday home experience we've had, and we've had many. The house is so well set up, and the owners have obviously given great thought and care to it and to the holiday makers visiting it.

Liked best: The comfort and attention to detail made by the owners
Liked least: The creaky floors upstairs, but I'm not complaining really.

House is really nice, cosy and finished to a high standard. Great sea views from main bedroom. Excellent location walking distance to the centre down a quiet lane and peaceful setting opposite fields. Dedicated parking spaces to the rear. Highly recommend.

“Perfect getaway!”
Reviewed 1 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

We were looking for something for a few relaxing days away for a time out and this little treasure hit the spot. Easy booking process and easy to navigate/drive to. We stayed in March and with the weather being a bit iffy it was lovely to light up the log burner and have a few cosy days here. The kitchen was well equipped with all that was needed for a couple away...most importantly a cork screw!.....not used but if available, washer/dryer. It was really comfortable, decor was tasteful and very clean. Amenities close by to walk to and lots of walks on the beach which was only a short distance away....car not used on our stay here which was perfect. The cottage was deceivingly big and roomy enough to accommodate a family of 4-6 and we noticed there was plenty for the children on the wet days ..ie ps games and DVDs, Sky movies etc. loved the open plan style downstairs and the views from upstairs master was beautiful looking out to the sea and again tastefully decorated. Bathrooms were stylish and clean. Thanks for a lovely stay and look froward to coming back one day in the sunshine!

“Great location, lovely house”

Just returned from a fantastic week at Bwthyn Mel. The location is really good, and there's a beautiful sea view from the bedroom. The whole house is tastefully furnished, a real home-from-home (except nicer than mine!!), and the log-burner was particularly enjoyable after a 'bracing' walk on the beach nearby - our dog was in heaven, stretched out in front of it! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here, found Mike and Claire easy to deal with and very helpful, and will be booking again for next year :)
