We ate at The Castle purely by chance and weren't disappointed.

I had Cardigan beef lasagna, my fiancé minute steak on ciabatta and the kids (8 and 2 yrs) shared a chicken tagliatelle.

All the meals were delicious and the freshness of the produce stood out - even the pesto sauce decorating the slate plates.

Special note for our barman/waiter who was extremely friendly.

All the dishes were £6 to £9 and great value.

The empty plate was Thai fishcakes starter. As you can see i didnt really like them lol i remembered to take pictures of main course and dessert before eating! Both chicken an beef were very tender nicely cooked plently of veg on the side too. Would recommend getting there early for sunday lunch as they do get busy, but with food to this standard its not going to be quiet. Lovely bar and hotel, staff are brilliant.

Located on the main square in the town it is the ideal spot for dinner and drinks. A small number of seats outside for those hot Summer days.

When it comes to the evening however it's becomes much more of a loud pub than a quiet bar. That may appeal to others but it wasn't my cup of tea, so we left shortly afterwards

Took over 40 minutes to get a one minute steak sandwich lite bite. Restaurant was very quiet so it's not that the kitchen were under pressure. No apology and the steak had a lot of gristle making only half the sandwich edible.

On a very busy Sunday in August, service was great. The specials were excellent value and very well cooked and presented. The beer was excellent. The wine price was a bit high, otherwise a great place to stop at lunch time.
