Owner description: Renovation and renewal have come to this historic street known as the "Home of the Blues." Flashy music clubs and restaurants abound.

Such history and great music all in one place. We went bar to bar listening to lots of wonderful bands. Make sure you have 2 or 3 days to eat, drink and dance you way around the area.

Unfortunately, there is no place to rent to live on Beale Street.

This street was so much fun - the sights, the smells, the sounds, the food, the drinks, the live entertainment in the street! I had the best time ever!

A couple of blocks of this street are blocked to vehicle traffic and people are free to wander in the street or the sidewalks. The selection of barbeque was incredible, and filling! And the music! Ah! Heaven for this lover of the blues.

Spent an hour just watching people entertain us by doing flips down the street, so fast they were just a blur. Also went there on Harley night, when Harleys were packed into the parking spaces.

Such a wonderful vibe on Beale Street.

Visited both day and night. Much more electric at night. Its a small strip but interesting with nice shops, clubs and music. We mostly went to see it, and take some photos, as were not drinkers and we had already eaten but the atmosphere is cool. The music were heard there was great, and the gift shops were very very groovy.

We drove down to Beale Street just to check it out, as we had heard it was a landmark to visit. We easily found a parking place on the street, but it was a Sunday afternoon so maybe easier than other times. Beale Street was interesting to see and we walked it for maybe an hour, stopping in at a few shops. I am sure it is a lively and fun place to hang out at night, but not much happening during the daytime. Oh .... other than the panhandlers. We were approached by several people asking us for money. I did not feel real comfortable wandering there and would probably not return.

The history packed area of Beale Street is blocked off, just a couple of blocks, an easy and well worth stroll for anyone interested in American music history, and an excellent short tour while in Memphis. Other nearby attractions within a block are The Rock and Soul Museum and the Gibson Guitar Factory.
