“Lovely place to unwind”
Reviewed 4 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Lovely barn with beautiful views. Never met the owners or any if the staff but there lies the beauty of it all. Relaxing break peace and tranquility but plenty of walking, cycling etc if you want it. Lovely bedrooms, high ceiling living room with log fire (they give you a basket of logs £7.50 thereafter). We stayed for four nights and we did not need anymore. Open kitchen diner with dishwasher, washer and all mod cons. Best of all is the hot tub outside the front of the barn which is absolutely fab. 1hr and 50 mins to Edinburgh and easy to get to. Overall would definitely recommend and will return again without hesitation.

Thank you so much for your comments and we are so glad you had a nice time. Thanks to your helpful comments, we have since put flagstones down between the door and the hot tub so that it is more comfortable to walk between the two! Thanks again for your booking and review and we look forward to seeing you again in the future! Thanks, Greg and Nina

“Lovely, but ............”

well, first thing to say is that we previously stayed in Oak cottage on the same estate which we found perfect, could not be faulted. unfortunately we therefore couldn't help but compare the Barn with Oak... reason for choosing the Barn this time was that there were 5 of us so we needed 3 bedrooms. the Barn was done out lovely, but personally i would have changed a lot about the layout. we were 2 couples and my mum. the master bedroom was spacious & lovely and had a great view, but the other 2 bedrooms, although nicely done out, were pretty small in comparison, so you couldn't help feeling a bit hard done to. the other 2 rooms were long and very narrow and the shared bathroom was downstairs which was quite inconvenient if you needed the loo in the night. we had the double room, it was only wide enough for one bedside table. in mum's twin room the door hit against the bedside table when you went in as it was so narrow. but the lounge had a really high ceiling, so for me i think it would be better to have made a full length top floor and have all the bedrooms a decent size with the shared bathroom upstairs on the same floor. i would also have put the lounge at the front near the patio doors with a view (and with an extra sofa), and the kitchen at the back. but that's maybe just me, as i said i couldn't help but compare it with Oak. the hot tub was great, though, and we loved having the log fire. probably great for a family with kids, but for us i would only go back to Oak as i thought it was much better. i have said i would recommend but i would also let people know that i think it is better suited ot families with children.

“Absolute Perfection”
Reviewed 27 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have just returned from two extremely relaxing weeks staying at the barn - craggantoul.
This was our second visit to the barn, the first being three years ago. The property has been recently refurbished and although nice then, the changes are very positive, the largest being the addition of a decking area with a Hot tub (very nice after a day in the hills) and opening the end wall up and installing a set of french doors adding to the levels of natural light and make better use of the terrific views over loch tay and the mountains on the south side of the loch.
It is situated on a large estate with a half dozen or so other holiday properities, almost exactly half way along the loch directly below Ben Lawers (10th highest peak in Scotland). There are walks through open grassland and oak woodland down to the loch shore. There is lots of wildlife to spot if you are quite and observant including dear, bats (66 of which live in the eaves, we counted them one night) and birds.
The cottage itself is very spacious and extreamly well equipped with everything you would wish for provided. The views are terrific and it's nicely located for exploring the Southern and central highlands.
It's a little on the pricy side but given the standard of accomodation and facilities it is good value for money. We all agreed that this was the most relaxing holiday we have ever had and will definately return to the Barn or one of the other Craggantoul properties in the future.
