Hard to fault this guest house. The positives are location, welcome and breakfast and the room was fine with a new en-suite bathroom which worked really well. Top floor and with a garden view, but still fine. Sea front view would have been wonderful, given the view on offer, however this was available from the guest lounge, a very attractive room which also has HD TV.

The only negative (from my wife) is that there is no electrical point adjacent to a mirror. This is a frequent complaint so owners, please take note !!

If we come back to Bute and Rothesay I would not look past St. Ebba Guest house.

I am giving four stars, which is a really good score. That front view from the room would have easily elevated it to five stars. Believe me, it is some view.

Very High Standard / Very Friendly / Professional Service. Hotel is on a great location looking strait up Loch Striven and the Kyles of Bute. Would recommend this for family or business stay. Plenty parking either in the grounds or out on the main road.

Room Tip: Best Views at front of Hotel

We stayed 3 nights in room 3. This is a spacious, well furnished room with a fantastic view across the bay. The en suite bathroom is large and its main feature is a large free-standing enamel bath set on a plinth. There is a decent sized shower cubicle with a "rain" type overhead shower and a hand-held shower. There was plenty of pressure and hot water but it was slightly difficult to regulate. There are 2 wash-hand basins with illuminated mirrors above.

Breakfast is from a comprehensive list chosen the night before. It comes cooked to perfection and there was a choice of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt as well as toast and fresh coffee (decaf available) or tea.

The B&B is situated just outside of of Rothesay and is about a 15 minute stroll (less than a mile) along the seafront to the centre.

There is parking for 2/3 vehicles on the driveway and plenty of room on the road outside.

I would highly recommend this B&B and if you are in Rothesay you should visit Mount Stuart House - definitely not to be missed even if you normally don't like stately homes.

Room Tip: Room 3 costs extra but is well worth it

Single room on top floor, but still a very good size and really well equipped. Good quality fittings and a very comfy bed. Good WiFi, large and comfortable guests lounge with lovely sea views northwards, towards Loch Striven and the Cowal. Great choice and quality of breakfast, ordered in advance by ticking off your choices on a menu sheet. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Scottish breakfast and hospitality! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed visiting with the host and staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was very convenient. We got some good information and advice as we toured the island.
