Arrived yesterday for a 1 pm wedding, was originally told check in would be 2pm but on arrival a very helpful young lady informed us that our room was ready. The reception staff give a very good first impression, they are friendly and helpful. On entering our room in the new wing couldn't have been more impressed. Nice large room with a fantastic view over the golf course. Beautiful top quality furniture and a nice large bed which was very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities with the added bonus of a cafetière. Most of the toiletries you require are provided and are good quality.
We attended the wedding which was downstairs in a nice light and airy room. Afterwards lovely canapés to go with the bubbles. The wedding meal could not be faulted. My husband had the chicken and I had the beef. For once none of the food was dry!! It was all cooked to perfection. In the evening we had stories with beetroot and again they were just so tasty.
On going back to the room after the wedding we found the bed turned down, slippers provided and bottles of water by the bed. Even though some of the guests were still partying the room was nice and quiet.
The only adverse comments was at breakfast I cannot believe we had the same chef as the day before. The cooked breakfast meats were poor to say the least. Scrambled and poached eggs very tasty, bacon quite fatty ( would have been ok if cooked a couple of minutes longer to crisp it) sausages tasty but not cooked so the skin was pale and thick, haggis dry and inedible. I suggest this chef try some of the meats and I'm sure he would come to the same conclusion.
On the whole we had a wonderful time made all the better by the wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Thank you all for a wonderful time finished off with a good game of golf on the well kept course.
