Didn't know what to expect but was not ready for what we found. The cottage was beautiful and stocked with everything needed (sorry for drinking most of your coffee Andy but it was nectar!) and plenty big enough. Stunning views abound, could get used to waking up to my own private loch.
A full selection of maps was available for planning sight-seeing trips and walks, but the real knowledge was the owners' head (Andy). An infectious character, Andy was full of local information and told us the best places and walks, even down to parking the car near the re-cycling bins! Smashing fella!
Must call in at The Skye Pie Cafe and try a beef pie, I am a seasoned pie muncher and can say hand on heart that these were special.
All in all a fantastic week, hope to go again.
We chose the Hunish Coastguard Cottage as our family holiday to Skye this year (8 adults aged between 33 & 75). We had such an amazing time. We can not thank Andy (the owner) enough for his communication and all the additional extras that were provided within the Cottage. I have stayed at many Cottage’s and Villa’s and can honestly say that we were extremely impressed and it is the best I have been catered for. The beds were so comfortable and all had an amazing sleep. The location although quite a drive is fabulous, picturesque and definitely worth the travel. We will all definitely stay here again and I’m not one to stay in the same place twice. The only negative was the 1 toilet (but there was a separate bathroom) because there was 8 of us. The roaring fire with provided coal, logs & kindling was a beautiful focal point, heat and added to the atmosphere. It was a fantastic vacation and family holiday and we can’t wait to revisit either in Summer or around the same time next year for that wintery/Christmas feeling.
Stayed one week. When we arrived we hade a very warm welcome, very informative. The house was clean and the living room had a fire place that made the evenings very cosy. The view from the upper bedrooms was very nice over the sea to the Hebrides.
The host was very friendly and helped when there were questions.
I can clearly recommend it.
We have just experienced the most wonderful weeks holiday in the Coastguard Cottages at Duntulm, Isle of Skye.
The house had everything we could have wanted and much more. The rooms were all spotless, spacious and very comfortable with lots of attention to detail.
The location at Duntulm is both peaceful and stunning with amazing views. There is a Loch (Loch Cleat) immediately outside the rear of the property and to the front are the ruins of Duntulm Castle with the backdrop of The Minch, The Outer Hebrides, Atlantic Ocean and beyond.
Andy is a perfect host and gentleman who couldn't have done any more to make our stay in Hunish so special. From arriving and entering the Cottage to a welcoming homely feel and a lovely welcome package of Fresh Bread, Milk, Wine, Chocolates, Fresh Fruit and just about everything you could possibly need, it was a truly fantastic week for us and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a holiday in this beautiful part of the Isle of Skye.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this property whatsoever. Can't wait to return.
See you next year Andy,
Best Wishes from
Steve, Babs, Michael, Callum, Natalie and Bruno the Hound
