Based on the main street in Tobermory this is a lovely holiday cottage. It has everything you need in a location convenient for the restaurants & shops & many wildlife spotting trips leave from the harbour. The view over the harbour from the front of the property is lovely & there is a very convenient local ice cream shop just opposite!! Although the Scottish weather wasn't too kind to us, once we lit the burner in the living room the cottage was lovely & warm. We would recommend this as an ideal base for exploring Mull. Although it is a very central location in the town we found it to be very peaceful.
Toll a Balla, a delightful home set back from the main street in Tobermory, is the perfect place to stay in Mull. Why? The house is in an ideal location midway between the many excellent restaurants and quaint shops in Tobermory, a few seconds away from the chip van and the famous Tobermory cat! Marilyn has decorated the house with various interesting, eclectic artwork and has thought of all the extra bits and bobs you need for a holiday break but might forget. We used the stove as it was a bit nippy in the evenings and with minutes had a cozy living room. The beds are comfy, although the bedroom curtains do mean the sunshine will awake you early morning! The back garden is in the process of being renovated and once completed, I am sure it'll be a wonderful sun trap. Thank you for a great holiday!
Only given 2 stars due to the good location, which is a shame as the cottage is very quirky and could be delightful. Shower trays and under the toilet seat had not been cleaned, the floors were filthy and the carpets looked like they hadn't been hoovered in months. The windows are still blown and dirty and there wasn't any hot water in the kitchen after the first two days. The first few steps outside were permanently wet, presumably from a leaking pipe, which in turn has left green stains on the white walls and there was a discarded cigarette butt on the doorstep. I advised the owner about the lack of cleaning and the fact that the front door is very insecure but didn't receive a reply until I sent a second text advising her of the lack of hot water as well. Sadly there isn't anywhere to sit outside on a sunny day either as the back garden is totally overgrown. This cottage is in desperate need of some tlc and a thoroughly good spring clean. Very disappointing end to our holiday
The apartment is perfectly positioned on the main St. Plenty of car parking and a good selection of coffee shops and restaurants. The apartment is well equipped with a great book selection. The beds are very comfortable. The rear garden is overgrown but you'd need mountain gear to get amongst it it is so steep! All in all, an excellent base for exploring Mull.
We were a party of five adults and we stayed here for 4 nights. Toll A Balla was great. It is a perfect location and the accommodation was lovely. It had everything we needed and was comfortable, cosy and clean. The communication with Marilyn was easy, prompt and helpful. We would recommend it and stay here again.
