we stayed for 1 week in the lovely cottage everything as described met kenny a couple of times very friendly and we love the cute retired dog i forget the name had a great time great cottage stay here if you want to visit the island
Second year staying at Taigh Graiaidh when on holiday in Lewis. It's a wonderful, well-equipped cottage with everything you need for a real home from home. The views from the living-room window over Loch Roag are stunning (as are the sunsets) and the cottage is ideally placed to explore this beautiful island. Caroline and Kenny are superb hosts - Caroline's welcome pack has everything the hungry traveller needs on arrival (including a much appreciated bottle of wine) and Kenny is happy to demonstrate his Harris Tweed weaving expertise in the loom shed next to the cottage. Coupled with fresh eggs from the free range chickens and visits from Kenny and Caroline's lovely collies Dot and Sheila, make for a pretty perfect holiday.
Taigh Granaigh is probably the best holiday cottage we've stayed in. It's located in an absolutely stunning setting with views of the ocean and mountains. It has a beautiful garden with dog save fencing. Next door to the cottage is Kenny's Harris Tweed weaving workshop (can't hear a thing of it in the cottage or garden), which was absolutely fascinating when he showed it to us. Also next door are free roaming chicken who produce very tasty eggs.
The kitchen is exceedingly well equipped with lots of space for the whole family. There are two full, spacious bathrooms, upstairs with a bathtub, downstairs with a shower and a downstairs cloakroom. A comfortable living room and three good sized bedrooms, two doubles and a twin with ample wardrobe space.
What else could I say? Wi-Fi worked fine, stunning beaches and Stornoway in easy driving distance, best welcome package we've had including homemade pancakes and rhubarb marmalade.
Their 2017 TripAdvisor award for excellence is well deserved seeing as both Caroline and Kenny are walking the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
A well equipped cosy holiday cottage. The welcome pack - Homemade Scotch pancakes, fresh eggs and wine - was a nice surprise which we enjoyed very much! Perfect location for watching the sunset as well as getting round the island. We found talking to Kenny and seeing his weaving fascinating. Our sat nav took us a different route and we had to ask directions at the soap shop in the village. That is well worth a visit too! Would recommend Taigh Granaidh
Granny's House. Breasclete. Isle of Lewis.
We had a lovely stay in a well equipted and cosy little house. Had everything we needed and more thanks to the welcome pack and delicious homemade pancakes that were there on arrival on a cold wet night!
Beautiful surroundings. Situated near to the Callanish Stones and many other attractions it was a perfect place for travelling to them. The owners also have a Harris tweed loom in adjoining building and it was fascinating to see how it was done!!
We would definitely recommend and hopefully be back! Thanks x
