“Idyllic cottage nestled almost within the mountain!”
Reviewed 6 May 2016 for a stay in March 2016

My brother's and I had a great time staying in this very charming cottage in the Torridon. The cottage has a lovely feel to it - very cosy, with two log fires provide lots of warmth if required. The hosts, a local couple, live just behind the cottage and were extremely helpful in providing information on local walks. The view from the cottage onto the loch are absolutely stunning and it's incredible location made it a holiday to remember. We'll definitely return!

“Highly recommend a visit!”
Reviewed 6 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

I joined my family on their second trip to Durrie Cottage in as many years, they had told me how lovely it was and they were not wrong. A traditional Scottish cottage with swish bathrooms, we liked the 'granny chic' well loved style of the lounge & dining room with shelves packed with interesting books, and a lovely photographic story of how the cottage came to be owned by the present owners. My second time to Scotland and first time to Torridon, I will be back! Stunning place, sorely missing the view of the loch I had from my bedroom (both bedrooms overlook the beautiful mountain-backed loch). We were greeted with a glorious sunrise on our departure. Sheila popped by to check all was well, all in all a delightful, cosy place to stay and well placed to explore the ridiculously beautiful surrounding area - we've more walks to do, hills to climb and lochs to explore, we will be back!

“Christmas in Torridon”
Reviewed 22 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Durrie Cottage is a cosy wee place, typical of a traditional cottage in a remote Scottish location. The views out of the front looking over Loch Torridon are simply stunning and the village is very welcoming. I recommend the shop and cafe!

The cottage itself is basic but warm, comfortable and welcoming. the kitchen area is small, and the coooker a bit rattly, but we managed to cook a delicious Chrismas Dinner with no problems. The lounge is lovely and has a woodburning stove.

Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms with twin beds in each (that can be pushed together). Whilst the cottage is simple and probably not seen much change for quite a while, the owners are clearly updating it in stages, so there are two modern bathrooms and underfloor heating in the hall way. With time, and further investment I expect it will become a very stylish rental, but then probably outside of our budget!

Thanks for a lovely stay and we will be sure to recommend it to friends.

Thanks for your kind and considered review. The kitchen has been updated/extended since your visit and all of the appliances have been replaced (including the rattly oven!). We hope you'll visit again and let us know what you think of the changes.

“Fantastic escape from London”
Reviewed 10 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Four friends from London had a great short stay at Durrie Cottage in August. The location was ideal with good access to the village and the fantastic cafe-shop, as well as walks nearby. The views from the bedrooms were brilliant and we very much appreciated the quiet. The newly refurbished bathrooms are lovely and part of planned further refurbishment of the cottage. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope do come again.

“Our accommodation experience at Durrie Cottage”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We had a wonderful stay at Durrie! Had everything we need to make a proper meal, both bathrooms were modern, clean and spacious and we especially loved the underfloor heating and warm towel railings. Sally were very friendly and welcoming to us. Thanks Sally! Our first impression of the cottage was that it's welcoming, warm and full of character. The only negative thing that we felt was that, apart from the bathrooms and kitchen, the rest of the house was not clean and definitely did not see a duster just before we came (I know we left it cleaner as it was afterwards) and the rest of the cottage urgently need some attention (renovations and a paint job inside). I also don't think the stairs is safe for small children. There were even a mouse in the house which took a wee bite from our apple, but that we actually found very funny! We also would have preferred a lighter summer duvet (even though it was very cold outside) or otherwise a blanket and a flat sheet to have a choice at least. All and all, a very nice visit and we loved Scotland! Thank you Sally!

Jeanetta, thanks for your review and for letting us know your concerns that there could have been a mouse at the cottage. We've never had any issues like this before but we have arranged for pest controllers to carry out a thorough inspection and address anything they find. Please get in touch to discuss this with us further. We have planned some renovations over the winter which we hope will address your other comments.
