Reviewed 13 September 2010

Nine years ago we visted the Torridon for the first time. We loved the location, hotel, food and staff. So when we decided to have an intimate wedding, the Torridon seemed to be the ideal venue.
Bill (my husband of 3 days!!!) made most of the arrangements with Robert (the Manager) via email and phone as we live in Nottinghamshire. I arranged the flowers using Amanda Call who was recommended by the Torridon's website and with Robert help Laura (a beautician) was booked to pamper me on my wedding day.
I arrived at the Torridon on the 8th September 2010. I was warmly met by Robert and within seconds I felt that we were old friends. I was shown to our suite and after relaxing gazing at the fabulous view, Robert came to see me to run through the final arrangements. Robert had all bases covered and was very willing to ensure everything was just as we wanted.
None of our family knew about our wedding, they thought they were away with us for Bill's birthday. So when they arrived at the Torridon they were shown through to the drawing room where lunch awaited them. Colleen and Robert gave each guest an envelop containing their wedding invitations. The stunned looks of our 6 children and my Mother were captured by Mary (our photographer) who was recommended by Robert.
At 4.30pm we were married in the library looking out to the fabulous views of Torridon. A Harpist player, my Mother cried and we all treasured the moment.
Whilst we had celebratory drinks in the bar, Robert and his team transformed the library for our Wedding breakfast and Bruno (the chef) excelled himself by serving the most superbly cooked meal; venison, beef and salmon.
The evening ended with us all letting off Chinese lanterns outside the hotel and Mary joined us to capture this.
The following two days were spent eating excellent food, being pampered by attentive staff and tiring ourselves out with kayaking, clay shooting, archery and gorge scrambling - all offered by the Torridon. Richard and Chris were our instructors and took real care of us all.
The staff team were always professional, extremely friendly and exceptionally efficient.
Robert, Colleen, Erin, Tom and Vanessa were outstanding but even those who were not readily visible i.e. the Housekeeping staff were thorough, accommodating and friendly.
Our party was 11 in total, Bill and I, my Mother, Vicki (30) her partner and daughter Yvie (7 months), our four sons aged 21 to 19 years and our daughter Natalie 15 years. Despite the age range and the fact that we are city pumpkins, we all were blown away with the scenery, the tranquility and the fabulous service offered at the Torridon.
Dan and Rohaise you should be so proud. We can't wait to return!!!!!!!

Have just stayed here for a couple of nights and absolutely loved it. The view from the bedroom of Loch Torridon and Liathach was magnificent. To lie in the bath and marvel at the scenery was incredible. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. The service was excellent n the room and in the hotel in general. We ate in the hotel and in the inn next door (owned by the same people) both very enjoyable depending on the kind of meal you want. Obviously the inn was more casual (and cheaper) but the food was good , but the food in the hotel was superb and so beautifully presented. The staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. All in all a wonderful place to stay.

Having spent more years than I care to remember travelling throughout Europe and the UK staying in hotels in London, Paris and many other European destinations I am in no doubt that this place beats the lot. My partner and I returned to the Torridon for a four night stay after spending 5 years since our first visit dreaming about how beautiful this hotel is.
Robert, Collen and every other member of staff were absolutely brilliant. Every need is catered for and nothing was too much trouble. Many hotels, particularly in Scotland, try to imitate The Torridon but that is inevitable when you are the best. But there is only one Torridan Everything about this hotel, the rooms, the food and the amazining hospitality is perfect, We cannot wait to get back !

It's a good thing we saved this for the end of our trip - otherwise we would have been comparing everything else to this and everything else would have been lacking. This is an incredible hotel, beautiful location, landscaping, gardens. The staff treats you like the Queen, the rooms are very well appointed, nice size, great beds and a very nice bath. Breakfast was great - the only place we found Eggs Benedict the entire trip. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but opted for the Bistro next door which was very good. We had planned on hiking in the general area but once we arrived, we decided to just enjoy the grounds and hotel - it was a great choice. Would love to be able to spend a week here. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a luxury experience in a beautiful setting - definitely worth the money.

My new husband and I stayed at the Torridon for (unfortunately) just the first night of our honeymoon through the highlands and islands. We received an upgrade because of the occasion and the room was beautiful, newly refurbished with beautiful views over the loch and mountains with a lovely welcoming congratulatory note. We had a couple of drinks in the gorgeous old whiskey bar and a good natter with the barmaid, who was extremely friendly, and Coleen, the duty manager, again extremely friendly and this whiled away a great couple of relaxing hours. We went for a meal and the barmaid was also our waitress, again, really pleasant and efficient. We couldn't fault the meal in any way, the food was amazing, the wine list superb and the service excellent. The same was to be said of breakfast the next morning, wonderful cooked breakfast and salmon with eggs - it's good to know where in the country the products are sourced from and excellent to see so many local suppliers. All in all a superb stay, wish we were staying a few more nights! Don't miss this hotel!
