On a driving holiday with three friends, we stayed in the wonderful Loch Torridon Hotel, right on the Loch, beneath the ever-changing colours and atmosphere of the mountain above it. The hotel has a huge living room overlooking the mountain and the Loch, where you can enjoy the huge fire, and have a stunning afternoon tea after a day of sightseeing on the extraordinary North West Coast of Scotland. We had driven from Achiltibuie north of Ullapool, had visited the lovely Inverewe Gardens and driven along Loch Maree - one of the great drives on the North West Coast. We were welcomed warmly and had drinks in front of the fire, before the very sophisticated and beautifully presented dinner. Perfect food in a wonderful setting.
The rooms had every comfort - my room overlooked the small stream and the cottage garden, but one of my friends had a Loch View room - spacious with charming views.
This hotel is expensive, but worth it for the hospitality, food, isolation and great comfort and its spectacular setting. We only had one night, but I would recommend spending three nights there as there is so much to do.More
