The staff at this hotel were absolutely great. They managed to book us in an extra day at really short notice when my mother took ill and we could not continue our journey from Ullapool to Tongue. Cromarty was to be our last stop but the extra day was perfect as the sun shone both days.
The rooms were outstanding and the food was top class both for breakfast and dinner.
The view from all the rooms that we had was over the beach which made for a pleasant view day and night. The rigs in the Firth were majestic.
Our only problem was that my mother was unable to climb the stairs due to age and disability, so had to be accommodated elsewhere. Had we all been able bodied, I would have given this hotel
a clear five star rating and I hope to revisit it again in the future.

walked Into what seemed a very busy pub. Asked at the bar if there was any chance of a table. No problem! guided to the hotel lounge and was told a table would be ready shortly.
Five minutes later we were shown to our table and offered the menu. Starter and main of superior quality although portion size was rather large and beat us both.
A lovely dining experience. We will be looking forward to our next visit.

On the whole a pleasurable stay. Room was lovely and had a sea view. Though looking at rigs was not what I was expecting to see. (Not the hotels fault)
The staff were pleasant, once they had thawed out, although the barman could do with some lessons in hospitality. He was a misery and we were an inconvenience to him. Breakfast was great, once they remembered to send it. Have to say the food was absolutely fabulous! Our evening meal was superb so full marks to all concerned. Would we go again? Probably not unless the room prices were more reflective of the overall stay.

We booked the dining room at the royal for a surprise ruby wedding anniversary lunch for my parents. Nothing was too much trouble for Jenny and her team and they made great suggestions to help it go well. A fabulous time had by all!

So much was promised, but not delivered....on arrival reception was closed and we awkwardly waited at the bar. Our room had windows wedged open with wood wedges, glass tops on tables lethally not secured and the constant crashing of the door in the corridor all night. The paintwork, faded and worn , coupled with rusting windows were mixed with moody staff attitude and on arrival for breakfast before leaving there was no plates, bowls, milk and we had to wait 15 minutes for tea and toast when we were the only customers left . The only highlight was some stunningly cooked venison and scallops. Dont bother asking for a fan or even extra glasses for your room because you wont get any !
