Our recent stay at New Brachkashie was fabulous. Everything about the cottage and location was perfect, we really couldn't ask for anything more. The correspondence with Catherine prior to our stay was prompt and prior to arrival we received detailed instructions for everything that we needed when we arrived.
The moment we walked through the door we felt at home, the log burning stove was already prepared with kindling and paper (even in August we made use out of it during the evening). The views to the loch were amazing and having the use of the boats made the holiday more enjoyable. The beds were extremely comfortable and there is absolutely no light pollution or noise....so you can completely escape and switch off.
There was little or no mobile signal (with O2) but this didn't spoil our holiday. There is also no TV service which again suited us fine......there is a selection of DVD's and we were notified of this in the documentation prior to the stay so were prepared and took some boxsets/films. There is also a great selection of board games so we spent some nights playing Scrabble which I hadn't done for years, so it was nice to go back to basics and remember life before technology and countless TV channels! There is a Bose speaker which has an iPhone dock.
There is wifi but this is limited or you pay extra if you go over the allowance.....but again this is made clear in the documentation prior to the stay.
The cottage had a good amount of cleaning products, toilet roll, hand wash/shower gel as well as a few coffee pods for the Nespresso machine. The kitchen was well equipped with good sized fridge/freezer, oven/hob, kettle and toaster but no microwave.
I would definitely recommend the cottage and will definitely be staying again in the future. It's ideal for a complete getaway, having no TV, limited mobile signal and limited wifi is definitely a positive and a way to have a complete break from technology. Spending nights listening to classical music, playing Scrabble and keeping the wood burner alight was extremely relaxing.
In terms of the location there are some amazing walks close by, just a 5 minute drive away is beautiful spot where you can take in the views of the local area, look down onto Loch Knockie (where the cottage is based) and also be lucky enough to spot the local deer roaming the hills. Fort Augustus is approx. 15-20 minute drive and Inverness is approx. 30-40 minute drive. The Falls of Foyers is a lovely walk, also Dores Inn has a lovely Loch side/woodland walk which takes you to the fabulous fairytale castle (Aldourie Castle).....so many lovely places to visit.
I could go on about how lovely the weeks stay was......but as you can see by all the other 5* reviews I don't think I need to.
We stayed at New Brachkashie cottage in Whitebridge for a weeks holiday recently. Where to start... The cottage is a work of art, absolutely beautiful with great attention to detail, cosy, warm and very inviting. We wanted for nothing. Sumptuous beds, best nights sleep ever! We loved it! A view of Loch Knockie to die for! An emotional experience, literally a little piece of heaven on earth.
We enjoyed a visit to Inverness and Fort Augustas, where we had a wonderful trip on Loch Ness and watch the canal boats on the Caledonian canal, an amazing piece of engineering. We visited Whitebridge pub for a couple of drinks and to shoot a few games of pool, very friendly place.
Got some fabulous pictures of a load of deer grazing in the grounds of a house on the hill and did a fair bit of rambling!
Ah but being at New Brachkashie was the icing on the cake, we rowed on the loch and visited a few of its islands, did a spot of fishing and took the canoe out. The feeling of sitting in a boat on Loch Knockie at dusk is not something you feel every day.... even when it rained it was just beautiful there.
I could go on forever, we didn't want to leave, so Excellent and Stunning, a little piece of heaven on earth just about sums up our holiday at New Brachkashie.
Thank you so very much Catherine and George for our wonderful holiday in the Scottish Highlands.

We recently stayed at New Brachkashie for 5 nights with our 2 children and were so wowed by the cottage, it's location, the loch and the rowing boat.
The interior of the cottage is beautiful, it made me happy to just be inside, it even smelt lovely.
It was peaceful and calm and a joy to be there - hope to return next year.
(A 4 slice toaster would be a great addition)
Absolutely superb holiday home in the highlands. Really great setup with underfloor heating, lovely styling and log burner amongst everything else you'd need for a great week away. Fantastic locals walks and brilliant drives. Plockton and back road to Inverness both super trips. Sun was lit so we were very lucky. Lovely owners too with great communications before and during the stay. Colour photo is the view from kitchen!
With a feeling of remoteness & yet easily accessible, this beautifully furnished bijou house sits perfectly overlooking the loch at the end of the garden. Great layout with all the mod cons - beds are sumptuous with amazing pillows, bags of hot water & seasoned wood to feed the hugely efficient wood burner, what more could you want?!
Walks and bicycle trails on the doorstep & nature everywhere - make sure you bring your binoculars!
The Visitors book read like something from the United Nations so visit now before it becomes too popular!
