We have had an excellent dinner. For which we chose trout, vernison and risotto. All three dishes were excellent. Beautiful presentation of the dishes, too. We chose different desserts. We expected a classical peche melba. Nothing classical. It certainly was with peche taste, but in all it was a very creative dish. Same for the dark chocolate dessert. Good wine list, though somewhat pricey. Nice restaurant. Very friendly and professional service. Good coffee, we chose some delicious petits fours with the coffee.

1st, dog friendly, great for us.
Lovely friendly staff on both nights (was in day before but our older dog was restless so we had a drink and left, back tonight and all good.
Cannot fault the food, exceptional, pork loin and saddle of Sika deer were visually stunning, cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful, both our dessert were heavenly, my tart was light and bursting with flavour. We had an excellent meal tonight. Best venison I've eaten in a long time.
Only criticism is that only potatoe dish on sides is chips, lovely as they were they didn't complement any of the mains, I did ask I could have the bubble and squeak as a side dish but chef said no, shame really.
2 recommendations Having worked in this business for 40 yrs the one thing I've learnt is if you've got it, sell it to make customers happy because that's what makes people return and think about what complements your dishes.
Still an excellent meal, fantastic flavours and imagination with the visual look

We are delighted you enjoyed your experience with us – both service and sustenance.

To give you an explanation - the reason we do not offer the bubble and squeak as a side order is because it is not suitable as a side order, instead it is an accompaniment to another dish. We have a small side order menu and if you do return, we can offer creamed potato instead of chips.

In the Brasserie, we feel that we offer well balanced dishes with an emphasis on clean presentation. The Sika deer is a new addition to our menu with 4 main ingredients sourced within a 2 mile radius so we are thrilled you couldn't fault this dish along with the pork.

The Lovat is the only 4 star hotel in Fort Augustus and also happens to have the best restaurant in the area. The Brasserie’s entire menu is outstanding, so here’s a sample.
