I spent 4 nights here on a holiday. The hotel has a restaurant, cafe and bar. The staff was friendly, service was very good, breakfasts were delicious! My room was cozy and clean as was the entire hotel.

Room Tip: As a solo traveler I had a single room with a private bathroom. Was half the price of the double ensuite rooms.

We went here for lunch and had a veggie burger and chips and a crab sandwich which were both very nice and reasonably priced.

You sit in the conservatory which can get busy.

Nice range of cakes as well.

Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stayed her for one night. The rooms have been recently refurbished, the bathrooms still smell new! Large comfortable rooms with tv and wifi (you'll probably need it, mobile coverage isn't great in Orkney!). The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.
Hotel is about 15 mins drive from Kirkwell so need a car to get to it. There is a co-op across the road if you need it. Restaurant downstairs is wonderful, extremely delicious locally sourced seafood and a friend had the steak and said it was amazing also! Close to the stone circles and skara brae.

We stayed at the Smithfield 3 nights in Sept., 2016. Ivy was a great host, room was clean and good sized, food in the restaurant was excellent, location was good. We would definitely recommend the Smithfield!

Room Tip: Our room was very good.

Staff friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very comfortable. The on-site restaurant was a great plus. The food is absolutely delicious but the service, while friendly, is very very slow. It may have been that the "season" was over because the serving staff seemed quite inexperienced.
