The cottage looked secluded and isolated in the brochure photographs with an open fire and extensive grounds to walk our two collies in. It looked ideal. Unfortunately the photographs do not show the close proximity of the owner’s cottage and that the garden allocated to the holiday cottage is not extensive or fenced off from the main road. The cosy open fire has also been bordered up and replaced with an electric fan heater.
As the brochure says, wi-fi is available but only if you walk across to the owners utility room. The same walk is required if you want to queue for the washing machine and tumble drier. We went there for peace and quiet but unfortunately the quiet was broken most days by the sound of the owner mowing the lawn, strimming or cutting the hedges.
To summarise, we loved the area especially the Moray coastal towns of Burghead and Hopeman. The cottage, although comfortable and had everything available for a relaxing holiday, unfortunately failed to deliver. Do not be fooled by the brochure photographs, you are not alone!
