As a small group of friends, we stayed in Dreel Cottage to attend a wedding outside nearby St Andrews. The cottage was ideal, great location, very well equipped and spacious. The only drawback was our visit was too short to take in more of the East Neuk - planning another visit!
I loved your cottage. We were thinking of squatting so we never had to leave. Perfect location. Perfect pub next door. We'll definitely come back again
Had a terrific week at Dreel Cottage. It suited us down to the ground. At a time when the Mediterranean was sweltering in record breaking temperatures that forced holidaymakers to stay indoors, there is a lot to be said for holidaying on our own doorstep.
This cottage has everything you can possibly wish for. The owners have obviously put so much thought in to the needs of their guests. The location is ideal. Just a couple of minutes walk from the harbour and with a quiet pub next door, specialising in quality beers and food. It is a fantastic base for walking the Fife Coastal Path or the pretty villages of the East Neuk of Fife.
The secluded garden is an added bonus and the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
The streets in Anstruther are narrow and busy so the parking space next to the cottage is a godsend. There are a few decent eateries within a 5 minute walk but if you do fancy using the superbly equipped kitchen, there is an excellent Co-op on the outskirts of town, less thuan a 10 minutes walk away.
We will certainly hope to return some day in the not too distant future.
This has to be one of the best self-catering cottages we have stayed in both in the UK and abroad. The owners have really thought of every 'creature comfort'. (even the weather) It is wonderfully well appointed from the kitchen that has every piece of equipment you can possible need to the television, Freeview, DVD player, DVDs and bluetooth speaker. A choice of comfortable seats and comfortable beds. A short walk across the stepping stones takes you to the front at Anstruther and the Dreel Tavern is right next door. We had a great relaxing stay.
The booking was made sometime ago, and when the property was sold and the current owners took over they were extremely helpful and contacted us regards continuing of booking.
The weather was great and this enabled us to utilize the back garden, the closeness of the shops and harbour. The Tavern next door did not impact in anyway and the food is well worth sampling.
Having a designated parking space next to the cottage was also a benefit and even being the height of summer this was not taken advantage of by any patrons at the Dreel Tavern.
All in all, I would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Anstruther.
