Not sure what I expected as this is described as Walford Mill Crafts and yes there is a lovely art gallery but not much else. There was another small shop in thr Courtyard which was closed for a staff meeting and then there is the cafe which is situated by the river. I am sure this is a lovely place to visit in the warmer weather. I definitely expected much more.

The Craft Gallery is full of wonderful gifts and a visit can be followed up with a coffee or meal in the cafe in the courtyard. The food is excellent, staff lovely and it's much quieter and less frenzied than the nearby Pamphill dairy favoured by the masses. In the warmer months there are tables outside by the river and it really is a pleasure to go there. The gallery is on 3 floors in the old mill but the restaurant and toilet are accessible.

I went back here whilst on holiday in the summer.I still remember it from 15 years ago when we were last down here! It was at the top of my to do list. The mill building itself is a lovely setting with a glass viewing window to the river below. The crafts are excellent quality and very different from the tat that is sometimes on offer!Yes,it is expensive but you get what you pay for. I only wish that I lived closer and could visit mor often.

I have visited the Craft Gallery, set in an old mill building, many times (I live an hour away), sometimes to see specific exhibitions that interest me, sometimes just to see what is on. I have never been disappointed by the quality and imagination shown in the craft work on display. The pictures and textile pieces that Debby Kirby produces by weaving her own hand-dyed silk threads are breathtaking. She sells small "stocking-filler" items through to her large pictures. She is happy to explain her processes when she is working at her loom in the gallery and actively encourages visitors to handle her pieces. The colour ranges that she uses are wonderful. Jen Goodwin is also a resident textile artist - an embroidery artist and teacher (at the Gallery and for the Royal School of Needlework) who worked on the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress. Her gold work is fabulous, using her own original designs. Examples of her work are on display and kits are available. There are many other types of craft available to purchase from pottery through to prints, with silver jewellery and glasswork as well. There is also a printmaker and jewellery making on site. The crafts are expensive to buy and many could be considered as "investment pieces" but this does not detract from the sheer quality of the work which has to be admired. The Christmas exhibition has small, less expensive but high quality unusual items available. Seeing the mill race and wheel through the glass floor can be slightly disconcerting if you are not expecting it, but interesting nevertheless. The cafe (in a separate building across the enclosed courtyard) is friendly and comfortable and offers good cakes as well as lunch choices daily. Disabled access is straightforward and dogs appear to be welcome. There are pleasant views of the water flowing by and seats outside for good weather. With pay and display parking adjacent, this is a very peaceful haven away from the traffic and bustle of the high street. It is a good place to stop before making the 10 minute walk into Wimborne Minster to visit the ancient Minster itself and the Priest's House Museum as well as shops, cafes and restaurants.

The mill is a fascinating structure with various craft areas, stairs and view of the river from a glass platform. A video shows otters playing under the mill, but you’ll be lucky to see them during day light. The crafts are quality and it’s fascinating to watch a crafts person in action. How they make any money is hard to see. You. An watch for free, get a smile and conversation but the final product is inevitably expensive. It’s best to take time and to keep unruly children well away as you have to pay for breakages. We concluded with tea and toasted tea cakes I;the restaurant.
