When we booked our June/July holiday last February Bilshay Farmhouse was still undergoing major renovation work, but because we liked the look of the property we took the decision to go ahead and take a chance that the finished product may not live up to our expectations. When photographs of the completed works appeared on Symondsbury Estates website we were absolutely delighted and very excited about our stay at Bilshay.
The property offered luxurious accommodation and more than enough space for three generations of our family, ages ranging from 7 months to 60 years. The welcome hamper of local goodies was very gratefully received and enjoyed. The facilities in the house and grounds were second to none. The younger members of the family especially enjoyed the trampoline, while we all luxuriated in the hot tub. The garden, which is planted with numerous young fruit trees and climbing plants,
had ample space for outdoor games such as kite flying and boomerang throwing! The only thing we found lacking in the kitchen was a toast rack. There was more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and every white good you could wish for.
The nearest town is Bridport which is a lively market town with lots of takewaway food outlets, supermarkets an lovely independent shops.
The property is a short drive away from all the larger seaside resorts but a stones throw from some of the less well known Jurassic Coast beaches, all worth a visit.
