Do try to visit the Hartnoll while the Exmoor Food Festival is on. Fantastic value......£10 for 2 courses £15 for 3. We had 3 courses and all 3 were delicious. The portions were a good size and we didn't need a dessert but couldn't resist trying the toffee apple soufflé. It was really delicious and would definitely have it again. The service as usual was efficient and friendly. The meal was such good value that we will return to try out the dishes we didn't have this week ( except for the soufflé that we'll have again!)

I am so impressed by our experience here. The reviews seemed to be mixed but the Hartnoll was recommended by a friend so we decided to take a gamble. What a win!

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. We were half an hour early so they accommodated us whilst they prepared our table early. The staff were attentive and made us feel like special guests.

We were shown to our table as they carried our drinks over for us. We sat in the warm conservatory and were asked if it was too cold or too warm just to ask and they would adjust accordingly. This level of service continued throughout.

The food was incredible. It is pricey, but totally worth it for a treat and with the experience that comes with it. The attention to detail on both the starters and mains was impressive.

My partner and I just had to keep trying each others choice from the menu, consistently accompanied by moans of delight!

My partner spilt some of her wine and within minutes we were asked if we would like the tablecloth changed. We are not precious people and do not require a fuss, so declined, to save them the bother. But what great service where in other places we may have just received looks of disappointment.

We paid £115 before tip for a double gin and tonic, pint of beer, bottle of wine, 2 starters, 2 incredible mains and impeccable service.

We would definitely come again but will have to start saving up for it.

In summary, it is not a cheap place but you get a lot more than you pay for.

Visited here today and had lunch. We sat in the conservatory which is light and airy. Beautful pint of Devon Red Cider and a 'Pulled Moroccan Lamb' on Brioche. Very, very nice indeed and good value for money. Excellent service too, - attentive without being intrusive.

We've recently discovered The Hartnoll Hotel and, having had two very good lunches here during the year, booked for a large party for NY Day lunch. As before, the menu choices were broad and catered for everyone, at reasonable prices, and the service and staff were again professional, speedy, friendly and well overseen by the Restaurant Manager (and also tolerant of our slightly chaotic timings!). They handled it all with good grace and cheerful smiles. The hotel looks cosy and comfortable - lots of armchairs and cosy nooks. Would highly recommend to anyone for lunch (and imagine dinner & overnight would be good too). Well done to all the staff who are making it such a welcoming place to visit.
