We arrived late on a Friday night but we had a dedicated parking place and we made our way up the stairs to the flat to the key box. Not having to meet anyone was also a good thing after driving down from London. Waiting for us was a Devonshire Cream Tea and fresh milk. There was even instructions on how to make the cream tea ! The flat was warm and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and there was some herbs and cooking oil for us to use as well as the more usual tea, coffee and sugar. There was even a small container of freshly ground coffee for the Cafeteria (French press). All very nice touches. There was a decent WIFI connection and a pleasant lounge/dinning room. We loved waking up in the comfortable double bed to gaze out over the angry ocean. The bathroom has no bath but a large shower. There are stairs to climb but how else can you get such a great view !
This flat is really close to the ocean but in reality everything is close by, as Dawlish is a really small town. We always enjoy the pubs and try to see a play, when on, at the local Theater (Shaftesbury Theatre). We discovered the Gurkha on a prior visit but this time found Jack Spratts a Cafe/Restaurant on The Strand.
We warmly recommend this flat and have already booked our next visit.
Once inside this is a lovely flat. Great to know everything is brand new! The beds were so comfortable and so exciting to wake up to that view of the sea every day (even in the rain). The lounge has the same view. The kitchen had everything we needed, not that we cooked that much. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We took daily trips on the train to Teignmouth, Exmouth and Torquay. The station is a 3 minute walk away! We are coming back in July to enjoy it in the sun as well.
