We stayed in one of the platinum VIP lodges - was very new and well equipped. No issues with anything including hot tub. Indoor pool was a boon - kids loved it - but not much for the adults unless they like flumes !!! Weather wasn’t great so pool was brill... not sure how it will handle the crowds when summer comes.
Only gripe was the wifi - slow and they want you to pay for better. Hotels gave up that game a while ago..

we stayed here for 4 nights from the 26th March to the 30th March, we booked a 3 bedroom holiday lodge.
we were also able to take our dog, which was a huge bonus.
Check in was fast and efficient and we were given all the information that we needed. We were also given our bands which were linked in to our bank account, which meant that we didn't have to take any money to the pool which was very handy.
The lodge was amazing, 3 really good sized bedrooms and the main had an ensuite.
very well equipped with everything you could wish for.
It also had a hot tub which was fantastic, lovely temperature great going in at night when you could put the coloured lights on too.
We ate at the restaurant one night and the food was very good and reasonably priced, I think it may get very busy in peak season though.
The pool was a huge added bonus, the bands allow you to get into the changing rooms and also control the lockers, so no money is needed.
we also bought drinks from the pool side cafe using our bands.
The pool and changing rooms were very clean, the slides were great fun too, the deep end is not very deep though, but this does make it very family friendly.
We also had a game of tennis, it cost 5 pounds to hire the court and the equipment required a 10 pound deposit, they were nice courts too.
There were lovely walks all around the park, and our dog loved it!
We also had a lovely chinese take away from Chudleigh which is only a 5 minute drive away.
Overall we had a really lovely relaxing time, we would certainly return, and we would certainly recommend it to family and friends.

Room Tip: The Woodland View area is perfectly placed with great views.

We’ve just returned from a long weekend in a deluxe 4 woodland lodge. We came here and stayed in the same kind of lodge last year but this year was definitely not as good.

The lodge itself was considerably smaller, and although the hot tub was under cover it was kind of tucked into the corner of the lodge which meant a whole lot less space inside.

The hot tub itself was more of a warm tub not a hot tub, whatever we tried we just couldn’t get it warm enough. We did try and report it twice but the queue in reception was insane so we gave up.

We also didn’t have robes, (first world problems, eh?!) obviously not a ‘problem’ but last time we did and getting in and out of the lukewarm hot tub in the freezing cold bank holiday rain was no fun at all! There was also nowhere to dry towels - no radiators, and certainly not heated towel rails . So we ended up having to buy new towels at Sainsbury’s - ridiculous!!!

It was a particularly cold weekend but it was absolutely freezing in the lodge, we found 2 electric heaters in a cupboard so ended up having to use them.

Oh and the sauna didn’t work either!

We were ‘lucky’ enough to have a tv in our bedroom but it was the smallest screen I’ve ever seen, on a table behind a chair with the shortest cable so it was totally pointless! Last time it was in the corner, mounted on the wall... just saying!

The site is very nice but what is going on with the shop?!?!?! Basics to say the least, but also crappy quality bacon and sausages etc. Why they don’t make it more of a farm shop is beyond me. Surely there are local producers who would love an outlet for their stock and it would be supporting local businesses. Either that or make it a Spar?!

The new pool complex is nice, slides fun. Not enough changing rooms though!

We do like Finlake but they can’t call themselves Devon’s premier resort and charge over £700 for a weekend and not sweat the small stuff.

This is our fourth visit to Finlake and the first since the water park has been built. The water park is amazing but the rest of the site has left us a little disappointed. Our vip lodge is probably the shabbiest we’ve ever stayed in. Also what has happened to the hot tub staff that used to check them every day? Has the water been changed between occupants? On previous visits they left cards/tickets to show it had been checked - added chlorine etc. Nothing at all now.
Also we knew from previous visits that entertainment was a bit scarce but tonight we went to the Moorland Suite looking forward to a family games night but the staff just put board games on a few tables and that was it! Quiz night was also disappointing - it was held in the bar but there was no room to sit inside so we took a table outside. The outside speaker didn’t work, the quiz man didn’t come and ask if we wanted a paper and the doors were closed on those of us sitting outside.
There are still lots of good things here but we feel some of the improvements have impacted on other areas especially the lodges. Perhaps our lodge is privately owned and just let out by Haufryn ? Who knows? I think it’s a bit pot luck. If you love a state of the art pool and gorgeous woodland then you will still love Finlake.

The park has expanded hugely over the last few years and I feel it has over stretched itself. 1hr to check in and even then some lodges weren't ready after the specified checkin time. The alpine lodges are very hit and miss. The park don't actually own them, and when you raise an issue they just say they'll raise it with the owner. Talking to the maintenance people, it is pot luck as to the quality of your accommodation. The cleaning staff are clearly over stretched as there were cobwebs everywhere and the sofa was full of dog hairs and crumbs. The dining chairs were all different and out of the 6, 2 had some padding left. For a lodge catering for 6 people, there is nowhere to hang shower towels to dry, let alone your swimming towels. It's a real shame as the park has so much potential. The new pool complex is good for kids but could perhaps be a bit bigger for the number of guests. This was our 3rd visit and will be our last.
