We had a wonderful time in a most fantastic home. Exceptionally fitted out. It has the most charming garden and set in magnificent surroundings. It is a delightful cottagewhich is beautifullly styled and the only problem was having to leave.

“It's magical charm just wraps itself around you”

I rarely write reviews and I did say I would after my stay here... It is a measure of the magic of No 1 Gidleigh Park that after all these months I have felt compelled to share some of the charm of this place. We stayed for five days last summer with our teenage son and had a wonderful time. Our cottage stay was an amazing experience, Adam and Stephen have managed to merge stylish living, comfort and nature into this aptly named 'unique cottage'. We really appreciated the quality and thoughtfulness of the welcome pack and all the little touches which meant there was nothing that had not been considered to make our holiday special. From the recommended walks on the Moors past stone age sites to Dartmouth Prison on a rainy misty day...even a trip to the ironmongers in the town was great fun...but the highlight had to be relaxing in this stunning cottage and it's beautiful gardens ..thank you again.

we really loved this cottage. it was well equipped and spacious and the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to think of everything guests could need. we stayed in the cottage to spend time with our son who is a chef at Gidleigh Park Hotel and the location could not have been better.

“Beautiful property with stunning interior”

As stated by other reviewers, this is a beautiful property with a lovely garden and stunning interior, equipped with everything you could possibly need - including bath robes! The welcome pack with a bottle of wine and local eggs, bread etc. was also a very nice touch.

The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook rather than go out in the evenings, plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery etc.

The beds were very comfortable and everywhere was immaculately clean. It truly has the feeling of a home rather than a holiday let, with plenty of interesting books, CD's, DVD's and magazines to keep you entertained. Detailed instructions on how to operate all the equipment is contained in the House Guide together with suggestions of places to eat, visit and walks. I had a query re the heating and Adam answered this within minutes.

The 2 mile or so drive to and from Chagford (which is a lovely village with a butcher, delicatessen, baker, small supermarket, excellent wine shop and some nice places to eat) can be quite challenging in a large estate car! The road is VERY narrow in places and probably not for a nervous driver.

Thanks for your kind words Diane. We are really glad that you liked the house and the area. You are correct that the 1.5 mile road from the house to Chagford is narrow in places and you may have to reverse at times when meeting another vehicle up to a passing point but Devon would not be Devon without it's lanes! We hope to see you again soon at some point in the future. All the Best, Adam

“Exquisite cottage, amazing location, so peaceful and relaxing!!”

This was the most relaxing holiday we have had in a long time! The cottage is incredibly well equipped and just stunning! It's so remote and quiet with amazing walks right on the doorstep. Adam recommended the Chagford Inn for dinner and the food didn't disappoint - it was beyond amazing. Chagford itself is a charming village with so much character. We loved shopping at the dairy where we indulged in the home made ice cream and fresh milk and butter! We will definitely be retuning to One Gidleigh Park in the future and have recommended it to friends and family. A definite must!
