“Perfect for popping into Brixham.”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We enjoyed a mini break in Brixham and were pleased to have found a cottage you could rent for a couple of days, that also accepted pets. It was conveniently located for a short stroll to the harbour and the shops at Brixham. There were lots of pretty decorative touches in the cottage.

“Wish we could have stayed longer”
Reviewed 19 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Mum and I stayed here for a few days and really wished it could have been longer. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The cottage is beautifully decorated, with some lovely little touches' and we found it very comfortable. A few reviewers have mentioned the 'quirky' Brixham staircase (which we thought was a bit like a spiral staircase) it may take a couple of days to get use to but it is part of the charm of this lovely cottage. The property was very clean and the beds were comfortable, though we felt that slightly wider single beds may be more comfortable for adults. Thankfully we had no problem with parking and found a space just up the road from the cottage (less than a 2 min walk). It is lovely to just walk around the streets with its different levels, getting a different perspective of Brixham. The cottage is in a really great location, being away from the Quay and possible noise pollution but near enough to stroll down to the shops and Quay. Mum is 76 and did struggle a bit with some of the steep areas but she does have a knee problem and we were aware that some areas may not be accessible to her. There are some great eateries in the area too and we would wholeheartedly recommend Bistro 46 just down and round the corner from the cottage. The service and food at this restaurant was excellent and also good value for money. We also visited Montpellier near the Quay which was also very nice though very different from the ambience of Bistro 46. The Manor public house which is a few doors down from the cottage is also very good but at the time of our visit they were not serving food. We were a little concerned that there may be some noise from people sitting outside The Manor at night but there was never any noise after 10:30pm. All in all we loved staying at this cottage and fell in love with it and Brixham. Hope to be able to come back another time ...soon!

“Seabird Cottage a fishermans cottage, comfortable with lots of nice touches”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

A lovely 2 bedroomed cottage with lots of quirky touches and attention to detail. Very clean with nice bedding and towels. The enclosed terrace area up the steps (about 10) was ok but the steps hadn't been cleaned and needed a good brushing as was full of dirt and dead leaves. Cottage in close proximity to the harbour and town. Turn left from cottage for a couple of yards down the street then turn right to go down the "broad steps" about 15. Turn left and this brings you towards the quay and harbour. The cottage is situated in a very narrow street so extra care needed with a large car as after unloading you need to carry on down the street to negotiate a turn around to go back up past the cottage and either find somewhere to park on the street free or drive to one of the public car parks. A week's permit costs £33, 3 day permit £20. These can be obtained from the tourist information desk located in the shop Hob Nobs down by the harbour. We got a permit as the streets for free parking were mainly located up steep hills. Overall we were pleased with the cottage and our stay in Brixham, although I would not recommend the cottage for the elderly/infirm or very young children, mainly due to the steep winding staircase with no landing area at the top and the steps to the terrace. A bonus also is that the cottage is dog friendly.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and thank you for your honest review.
The points you raise are mentioned in our advertising so guests can be aware of the issues, prior to booking. Some of the points are incumbent of Brixham and mainly part of the charm. We do make it aware in our pre-arrival handout about the parking issues but will explain in the advert more clearly that the streets are very steep.
A point we have made previously is that families - old and young - have lived, and been raised, in these cottages for decades, even centuries
We do apologise about the outside steps we do suffer from 'debris' from neighbouring trees and Seagulls' nesting, we will ensure our housekeeper pays particular attention to this detail in future.
Thank you again for highlighting these points

Five nights stayed here, very enjoyable break for myself, husband and my mother.
Lovely cottage, full of character, and in an ideal location. We even got use to the quirky stairs. Would love to stay again.

“Will definitely return!”

Had a lovely time in Brixham - the cottage is very well presented, decorated to a high standard, very clean and has everything you need. Great location and a very dog friendly place. We will definitely return in the future.
