Second night on the bounce at Le Nautique. All fish courses on both nights were exceptional.

Service pretty good considering how busy it was, wine lovely and view out over the marina was great.

Ask for a window seat.

Had a family dinner here: good room, though the wooden floor and lack of soft furnishings makes it a little noisy. Food was good, but not great.

The mixed crab starter had a beautiful smooth mouse and a small crab cake coupled with a mini crab salad and pea-sized tomatoes: looked great, but was rather lacking in flavour. The harissa couscous with goats cheese was a huge portion, but also sadly lacking in flavour.

Mains included Guernsey brill with a seafood ragout: well cooked fish, but under-seasoned sauce. The mixed grilled fish with hollandaise sauce was also well executed, with prawns and scallop along with sea bass and other fish. A plate of scallops was also delightfully lightly cooked, but the hollandaise lacked punch.

Service was a little hit and miss, with dishes mixed up and empty glasses left to accumulate on the table, but this was offset by the friendliness of the staff.

Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable evening, but one that promised more than it delivered

The Nautique has always been a solid option when back in Guernsey. But based on last night, it has ratcheted up its offer another gear. A great window seat upstairs with view over the busy Marina set the tone. The 'variations on crab' starter with crab, mousse and crab cake was great. The turbot special - grilled and served with a hollondaise sauce fantastic - perfectly cooked. Grilled brills perfect too. Interesting deserts, coffee and calvados. We'll be back.

Having reviewed this restaurant a few years ago as a local as 5 stars and "one of the best restaurants on the island" I feel I have to qualify that review a little.

We went there again a few days ago and the food was still excellent, as was the ambience, so in many ways it still deserves the same accolade. The logistics, however were really bad. We waited in the street outside for a few minutes to get in (the entranceway is narrow and I suppose there is nothing they can do about that, and were shown to a lovely table with views over the visitors' boats and out to sea. We waited for over half an hour for our order to be taken, however, (despite the restaurant only being half full) and we were hungry. The nice waitress whose job it was to bring bread to the tables stood motionless throughout this time and was clearly under instructions not to bring bread until after the order was placed. The order was taken by a very pleasant and clearly well trained waiter, the (by now very welcome) bread followed about a minute later and the starter followed only a manure after that. The starter was excellent but the glass of wine I had ordered didn't arrive until well after I had finished the starter. I ordered another glass and the main course followed quickly again but the second glass didn't arrive until after we had ordered the bill.

This restaurant could be a good experience for you, especially if you aren't hungry when you arrive, and it might be better to order a bottle of wine rather than consecutive glasses. But it is more expensive than restaurants of equivalent quality and they really need to sort out the logistics, specifically surely its OK to serve bread while the customers have a long wait to order food, and if the food is produced with such impressive speed, the wine needs to keep up.

We had a lovely meal of suoperbly cooked seafood. It really was outstanding. Unfortunately the staffing seemed inadequate when the restauarant got busy and we waited ages for our bill then ages to try and pay it. Eventually went to the till to force the issue. Such a shame. Wonderful food spoilt by lack of staff - the staff there were lovely and working hard, just not enough of them and poor management by maitre d'
