Lovely hotel. Good staff who always try to please and are very welcoming.
Foods gorgeous, special! Finer touches to it. Service couldn't be better or faster.
Only disappointment is that the menu doesn't seem to change. So through the week we ate at le Gouffre the Greek restaurant and cafe which is fab and le Reunion which also is good.
Don't bother with the Deerhound if you like good tasting food served well and in a classy environment.

An interesting experience. The food could not be faulted. Even though it was expensive, the flavours, presentation, quantity and service made it a five star experience.
The dress of some of the staff was interesting, one in jeans, a barman in a body warmer even though it was a pleasant summer evening, and a sommelier in a suit without a tie. While interesting, it did not detract from the 5 star experience.
What did however was the discretionary 10% service charge added to the bill. A star lost here in my book. Service should be earned and customers trusted to pay a fair price for it.
Another star was lost by the complete lack of understanding by the sommelier. His actions have been documented in other reviews and I would entirely agree with them. He asked us for our budget, and was told we were looking at the less expensive bottles because one of us was driving home so we would not be able to appreciate it fully. Despite this he rather forcefully pushed us in the direction of a £40 bottle. We had already decided on what we wanted and stuck to our decision, but had the food not been so good, his manner would have ruined the evening.
Overall a brilliant chef let down by management and staff.

We really enjoyed the 'gin experience' but the bar meal afterwards was mixed. Two of the party enjoyed theirs but three chose the home-made burger which was extremely salty.

This is a small charming hotel with friendly, helpful personal service in a convenient location for the airport, St. Peterport and indeed as a base for visiting the rest of the island.

Our room, 106, was of a high standard but rather small. We seemed to bump into each other every time we moved and most of the available floor space was occupied by the large, and very comfortable, bed. It lacked a room safe and charging socket for shavers/toothbrush. The hair dryer was feeble and the TV reception was intermittent. Complimentary bottled water was provided and regularly replenished.

We ate in the restaurant on the first of our three nights. There was no table d'hote menu and the a la carte menu was expensive with starters typically around £11. The quality was excellent and not being big eaters, we were satisfied with two courses. Those with bigger appetites might have been disappointed but the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity.

We ate at other nearby hotel restaurants on our other two nights where the quality was good, albeit not haute cuisine, and the food was considerably cheaper. We noticed several other residents doing likewise.

Should you come here, I suggest booking direct and not through Secret Escapes/Premier Holidays/Channel Islands Direct as we did. Our package included a three course dinner on the first night but according to the Hotel, we were only entitled to £20 per person towards a meal which would not even have bought a main course. However, they did not insist on payment of the balance on departure and we left it with them to resolve with the holiday providers.

Breakfast was very good and cooked to order with an adequate cold cuts option from the self-service buffet.
